Pick Team Player School News and Notes

Round 1

1 MET Marvell Wynne UCLA This was hard to see coming, just like a Mac truck is hard to see coming.
2 RSL Mehdi Ballouchy Santa Clara The best pure playmaker in the pool.  Does this pick mean Andy Williams is moving out wide?
3 CLB  Jason Garey Maryland With Buddle moving on, Sigi opted for Forwards starting with the Herman winner.
4 KC Yura Movsisyan Pasadena CC The first stunner of the day.  A sought after prospect, Gansler snagged him before some say Bradley would have at #5.
5 CHV Sacha Kljestan Seton Hall Best talent on my board drops to Chivas, which is not a bad prize for Chivas.
6 FCD Dax McCarty UNC FCD nabs the player they coveted and had asked to be signed.
7 DC Justin Moose Wake Forest DC opts for the wide mid who had a great combine.  High work rate and pace.
8 HOU Patrick Ianni UCLA Bit of a surprise he went before Sturgis, but he was the player Houston wanted.  May spell end of O’Rourke’s time there.
9 CLB Kei Kamara CS Dom Hills A project player and a bit of a reach, but Sigi must like him.
10 CHI Calen Carr Cal Probably being looked at for a wide mid.
11 NE Leandro de Oliveira UAB A real reach? A one very promising player who had a ad injury.  Is Nicol on it again? or has he missed this time?
12 LA Nathan Sturgis Clemson Standout U20 centerback slipped down and is a real steal at 12.
Round 2
13 CLB Jed Zayner Indiana Perhaps the best left back on the boards.
14 CHI Jeff Curtin Geogetown Going to play with his brother, but might have been available late on.
15 FCD Justin Moore Clemson Another player FCD was after, will compete for a starting post with Rhine.
16 KC Lance Watson New Mexico A wide mid who can play either side, bull dogged and not afraid to tackle.
17 MET Josmer Altidore  U17 Metro pimps in ahead of FCD to grab the U17 young star.
18 FCD Blake Wagner U17 A left back or mid FCD scouted at the Nike Friendlies.
19 KC Tyson Wahl Cal KC nabs the solid cal centerback.  Safe pick, with no huge upside.
20 CHI Brian Plotkin Indiana the senior that had been signed by MLS falls a bit to round 2.
21 COL Jacob Peterson Indiana Another Ga U20, did the bad combine make him drop?
22 FCD Dominic Oduro Vir Comm 20 year old forward with some upside is a YI with some serious pace.  But might have been a slight reach after missing out on Altidore.
23 NE Willie Sims CS North Sims dropped after the combine.  Another player good on the ball for Nicol.
24 LA Marc Burch Maryland A surprise pick even though he impressed at the final four.  Pure lefties have value beyond a righty.
Round 3
25 LA  Kyle Veris Ohio State Only a defender for a short time, this raw prospect has big upside.  Risky pick.
26 RSL Ryan Johnson Oregon State A surprise grab, a player who looks to be moving to wide midfield… something RSL can use.
27 CLB Brandon Moss New Mexico A player that came way up considering he was a replacement player at the combine.  A reach in 3rds book.
28 KC Matt Groenwald St John’s Gritty outside mid with loads of workrate.
29 KC Stephen Shirley Vir Comm A bit of a project defender with raw talent, but a need for some coaching to capitalize on it,
30 FCD Ray Burse, Jr Ohio State Best keeper on the board.
31 DC Rod Dychenko UNLV MPSF player of the year and a dangerous attacking mid or forward.
32 HOU Andre Schmid St John’s Houston needed a player with speed off the bench. Did they get their man?
33 CLB Dayton O’Brien Memphis Slightly off the radar mid scored a lot of goals in college.
34 CHI Jordan Russolillo St Ct D2 player could be a solid pro on the left.
35 NE Kyle Brown Tulsa Another nice all around player in the Nicol mold.
36 LA Chris Dunsheath Bradley How do you pick a playr who won’t play for almost a year until he graduates school?
Round 4
37 CHV Jonathan Bornstein UCLA A role player who had been climbing the tables.
38 CLB Duke Hashimoto SMU Wheels and speed to burn.  An outside mid in MLS?
39 DC Jeff Carroll St John’s more brothers, this one at DC.  Best holding mid in my book.
40 KC Eric Kronberg Cal 6′5″ keeper who made needs loads of time.
41 MET Blake Camp Duke very nice senior mid who may be a tweaner.
42 FCD Michael Dello-Russo Maryland All around quality player will be a good team guy. Is he athletic enough?
43 FCD Mike Ambersley Indiana A winner at IU, but not a lot of size or pace.
44 HOU Mike Chabala Washington Solid player with a solid combine.
45 COL Josh Brown New Mexico Big physical defender with a nice Final Four performance.
46 CHI Jeremy Ashe Marshall A player a bit off he radar at Marshall gets nabbed by Chicago.
47 DC Kenny Bertz Maryland Big physical centerback that led the back for the Champs.
48 LA Aaron King NC State real fast forward will provide some punch for LA off bench or if players are missing.

Pick Team Player School Notes and Comments
Round 5
1 CHV Drew Helm Central Florida An absolute steal, somehow missed the SuperDraft list but is on this one? I would have taken him in round 2 of the SuperDraft.
2 RSL Jeff Rowland New Mexico Two-time All-American slips way down.  Nothing to separate from defenders at next level?
3 CLB Andy Gruenebaum Kentucky Second best keeper in this pool on my board.
4 KC Anthony Noriega George Mason A project, but could have immense upside.
5 MET Joe Vide Virginia Once a real superstar in the making and played in Germany…
6 FCD Chris Joyce Franklin-Pearce Big active forward, but needs better results.
7 HOU Mpho Moloi UConn Another sign that Danny O’Rourke is available for a bag of balls?
8 FCD Miguel Guante Portland An interesting player who play both D and attacking mid in college. Former US U17 and U18.
9 COL Jordan Harvey UCLA Perhaps third best left back in the 06 pool.  But Hunter Freeman?
10 CHI Floyd Franks UNC Charlotte Solid mid at UNCC who made a couple conference first teams.
11 NE Danny Wynn St Louis Reliable senior outside back, nothing flashy.
12 LA Trevor McEachron Old Dominion Before the injury he was a 1st rounder in 05, could be a MLS starter and that’s a great pick here.
Round 6
13 CHV Darren Spicer Princeton Not remotely Hispanic.
14 RSL Willis Forko UConn Did they just get their starting left back in round 6?
15 CLB David Chun SMU Sigi must have really liked SMU at the Final Four, since he took both their seniors.
16 KC Ryan McMahen Michigan St An All-American with some very nice college stats falling this far?
17 MET Pete Dzubay Michigan Holds 8 Michigan goalkeeping records
18 FCD Brad Napper Northwestern Top Drawer Soccer National First Team.
19 DC Andy Metcalf Memphis Prolific scorer at Memphis with 39 career goals.
20 HOU Hector Guzman Santa Clara Was it him? or Ballouchy?
21 COL  Liam Girrard Denver Canadian, former team MVP.
22 CHI  Dasan Robinson Dayton Three years on Fire Reserve PDL.  Why don’t more MLS teams have a PDL feeder?
23 NE   John Queeley NC State Another project defender, but he has some nice skills.
24 LA  Dan Paladini Cal St Northridge Big West Midfielder or the Year.
Round 7
25 CHV Lawson Vaughn Tulsa A midfielder moving to the back line in MLS.
26 RSL  Chase Harrison Va Tech Holds all but one Va Tech Goalkeeper record… sleeper pick.

28 KC Corey Farabi Drake Solid college outside back.
29 MET Brian Cvilikas Old Dominion Big target forward who works real hard.
30 FCD Sean Babcock Portland WCC first team, versatile player.
31 MET Brian Devlin Penn State Solid combine got him onto the radar.
32 HOU Tony Donatelli Temple This year’s Aaron Pitchkolan.
33 COL Keith Cauldwell Brown A couple Ivy League honorable mentions.
34 CHI Ezra Prendergast Syracuse Jamaican U17 and U18.
35 NE Adam Williamson Leigh Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year.
36 LA Armando Melendez Loyola Marymount 5th year senior and captain, 40 career points.
Round 8
37 HOU Josh Fender West Texas A&M Kinda local forward from a nice program that produced Dave Arnaud.
38 COL Dan Wasson Tulsa Another wide back or mid for Colorado.  Fell way down on my board.
39 FCD Peter Louis Coastal Carolina A player FCD had in for training all last summer, switched to D last year.  Reward? or legit prospect?
40 KC Chris Hamberger Drake 69 games, 69 starts.  I had some nice reports on him.
41 RSL Chris Lancos Maryland Did RSL get another guy here who might be able to start for them?
42 CHI Idris Ughiule Howard No idea.
43 DC Devon McTavish Wet Virginia A sleeper DC was trying to sneak under the radar.  Is this their 06 Bobby Boswell?
44 HOU Passes Passes? Dang just take your cousin or something.
45 KC Luke Enna Tampa Not sure about this one either.
46 CHI Richard Mupfudze Wet Kent. Zimbabwe. 4-time MVC pick.
47 NE Matt Wieland Creighton Highly regarded by some, not so much by me.
48 LA Matt Couch San Diego St Pac 10 second team, local’ish sorta.
