So my friend from the College Cup came through again.  Since I’m not going he sent me the list ahead of time.  Keep in mind this is just the preliminary list of potential names.  MLS will get feedback and the list will get smaller.  There might even be names added, there usually are.  Notably missing are Gale Agbossoumonde and Billy Duka both allegedly already contacted by MLS.

There are quite a few more names than previous years, 30 in fact.  Off the top of my head we’ve seen 8 to 13 or so signed. each year  Granted there are more teams now.

Corben Bone M Wake Forest Jr Signed MLS Update 11: MLS says signed.  Update 12/31: Ives has Bone as signed. Got a passed on tip claimed to come originally from Wake staffer that Bone is “definitely leaving.”  On 2010 MLS List. Has flirted with MLS three times now and has had sniffs from Europe.
Amobi Okugo M UCLA Fr Signed MLS Update 11: MLS says signed. Update 12/30: Signed.“The closest to commit of the unsigned standouts is freshman phenom Amobi Okugo.” On 2010 MLS List. Recent US U20.

Andrew Wiedeman F Cal Jr Signed MLS Update 11: MLS says signed. Update: Ives says he has signed.On 2010 MLS List. Previously: A 3rd Degree poster tells me Wiedeman is coming to MLS.  Ordinarily that wouldn’t be enough by itself for inclusion, but Wiedman is a real talent and it won’t remotely shock me to see him signed.
Danny Mwanga F Or St So Signed MLS Update 11: MLS says signed. Update 12/30: Contract signed. Update 12/28: My source says someone from MLS met with Mwenga for a late appeal.  That meeting plus reworked terms has caused the striker to change his mind and agree to sign with MLS.  Has also signed with Motzkin and contract is in the final stages.

Previously: my source says Mwenga has now turned down a 3rd offer from MLS and will go on trial in France with Lille on Jan 5th.   Mwanga wants to chase the European dream and will pass on MLS despite the offer being “very lucrative.”  On 2010 MLS List. School is still an option. Pac 10 POY as Soph.  Congolese passport and US Refugee Travel Document/Passport (which means he can come and go without visa).  Also has a US Green card and resident Alien card.

Blair Gavin M Akron Jr Signed MLS MLS MLS Confirms Signing. “Bunbury is likely to be joined by a teammate from this season’s remarkable Akron squad, Blair Gavin” says MLS Insider.
Dilly Duka M Rutgers Fr Signed MLS MLS MLS Confirms Signing. Goff says signed.  Previously Brian Lewis said “expected to sign. He’s a former Red Bull youth player so they may pitch a fit if he goes to someone else.

Cameron Brown F/M UNC Jr leaving 3rdD I’ve got a good source on Cameron Brown and the junior is looking to leave UNC and sign with MLS. On 2010 MLS List.
Dustin Corea F Milwaukie High HS “going pro” Clackamas Review U17 residency player who has enough interest that he’s bypassing college soccer and a full ride to Oregon State.  MLS and some European clubs may be tracking him.
