According to 3rd Degree sources, FC Dallas has agreed to terms with former Kansas City Wizards and LA Galaxy keeper Kevin Hartman. Terms of the deal are unknown at this time. Kansas City had failed to come to terms with Hartman on a new deal and had made it clear he wasn’t in their plans for this season. FCD’s young Generation adidas keep Josh Lmbo will now be going out on loan for the season, most likely to some USL team. Edit: 2nd round pick.

3rd Degree has learned that FC Dallas will not be bringing back legendary broadcaster Brad Sham as their play by play man for the 2010 season. Instead the FCD broadcast team will consist of two former players with Bobby Rhine working play by play and Steve Jolly as the color commentator. Brad Sham has been working FC Dallas games since 1998 and has done TV work on soccer dating back to the NASL days in 1972. Bobby Rhine has been the FCD color commentator for one season and Steve Jolley has done some color commentary on Houston Dynamo games. It is unclear at this time why FCD is making the change.

In the wake of some sub-par performances this spring, FC Dallas has parted ways with the recent signing Aziz Ansah. Brought to Dallas in theory to replace Heath Pearce at right back, Ansah has failed to live up to expectations. It seems clear at this point that Ansah must not have had a guaranteed contract. Rumors had begun to circulate mid-week that this move was coming, but 3rd Degree had been unable to verify the move until this morning.

FCD will then train twice a day for roughly two weeks before going to Orlando to take part in the inaugural Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic. Of much more interest are the four missing names on the announced preseason roster. There are also some interesting trialists listed.

FC Dallas has parted ways with their second string goalkeeper, Ray Burse, Jr.. FCD had previously declined the option on Burse’s contract, similarly to Dave van den Bergh. Also similarly to van den Bergh, when contacted last week Burse said he had not received a new contract offer from FCD. According to our sources, FC Dallas has been scouting a keeper in Germany. The waiver of Burse, coming as it does a week from opening of most MLS camps, seems to indicate FCD may be close to signing a new keeper; whether it is this unknown keeper in Germany or some other player remains to be seen. |

Her ranch that rehabilitates horses was devastated in recent flooding. The best women’s player of all time needs help. Perhaps it’s time for the soccer community to pay her back. I received the follow letter from ex-FC Dallas front office great Shawn McGee who now runs the Atlanta Beat. We’re helping the best way we know how, but spreading the message.

The following quote ran last Friday in the Dallas Morning News, but never made the on line edition. So I pulled the quote to share it with anyone. Credit to Steve Hunt for it.
