After bringing a 1-0 aggregate lead into game two at Robertson Stadium, Dallas added one more through a beautiful Carlos Ruiz strike early in the game. In spite of losing Pablo Ricchetti to injury, Clarence Goodson just before game time to a stomach virus, and Dario Sala to a knee injury in the first half, the Hoops went into halftime with a two-goal lead.

Both goals came off balls switched from the right side to Sealy lurking on the left. It was Toja wig night, Ante Razov injured his knee and may be out for the playoffs, and Captain Bobby Rhine was given a straight red for saying something to referee Brian Hall.
After going down 1-0 to an Eddie Gaven goal in the first half, Dallas responded with three unanswered strikes in the second half, the second two coming quite against the run of play. Arturo Alvarez tied the game just after halftime, and Abe Thompson added two more in the final five minutes. The result gave Dallas their first win in Crew Stadium, but more importantly it qualified them for the playoffs with two games remaining.

The Revolution broke the Pizza Hut Park/Final jinx Wednesday night by winning the 2007 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Championship in Frisco. Both teams came to play, but it was New England who opened the scoring as Pat Noonan poked the ball in at the far post after Adrian Serioux and Dario Sala miscommunicated on a Steve Ralston cross. Dallas responded with an excellent individual goal from Arturo Alvarez, but the Revolution went ahead 2-1 just before halftime as Taylor Twellman finished a corner kick. Wells Thompson made it 3-1 in the second half. Abe Thompson pulled one back for Dallas with his first touch on the ball, but the Hoops could not break down the New England defense to find the equalizer.

Some ball watching by the Hoops defense on a corner in the 62nd allowed Eddie Robinson to double the score. The Dallas letdown in the second half killed any chance of a comeback, the home team conceding most of the possession and eventually a third goal by Stuart Holden.

Just twelve minutes later, Chris Gbandi was heading for the showers after being sent off for a second yellow. The resulting penalty kick saw Landon Donovan tie the game, and Dallas began 65+ minutes of man-down soccer. The Hoops held off LA until the 72nd minute, when Chris Klein buried a shot to the right upper 90 from outside the penalty box to give the Galaxy their fifth win of the season.

Chicago launched an assault on the Dallas goal as the FCD holding mids again collapsed into the back line. That allowed Chris Rolfe the space to score a pretty goal from distance. The Fire made defensive subs to try to keep the Hoops off the board, but Carlos Ruiz leveled the score in stoppage time to give Dallas the Brimstone Cup and a point.

The Revs took the lead in the first half on a goal by Pat Noonan, but Dallas leveled the score just minutes later as Ruiz headed in a Dax McCarty free kick. The relatively even first half gave way to some chaotic defending from Dallas in the second that resulted in Noonan scoring his second goal off a cutback by Steve Ralston. Ralston scored the third himself after Taylor Twellman cleaned up a ball that Sala spilled. Dallas sub Dominic Oduro fed Carlos Ruiz a great cross immediately after entering the game. Ruiz finished it with a strong header to pull one back for the Hoops late in the game, but Khano Smith capped off his domination of the left side of the field by scoring the Revs’ fourth goal in the 90th minute on a long, low shot.

Near the end of the first half, Dallas earned a questionable penalty as Tyrone Marshall looked to have clipped Abe Thompson’s foot as Thompson was 1-v-1 with Toronto keeper Stamatopoulos. Denilson finished the pk for his first FCD goal. Then with just minutes left in the game, TFC substitute Joey Melo pulled down FCD sub Dominic Oduro in the box to give Dallas a second, much clearer-cut penalty. Abe Thompson converted that one and Dallas won 2-0.
