AFTER FURTHER REVIEW KREIS JOINS 50-50 CLUB. After further review of the game tape from the Burn’s 3-2 loss at the MetroStars, forward Jason Kreis has been credited with an assist on the Burn’s first goal in the 71st minute. Initially, Bobby Rhine was awarded the assist but replays clearly show that Kreis flicked Rhine’s pass on to Ariel Graziani, whose shot off the post was put in the goal by Richard Farrer. With the assist, Kreis now becomes only the second player in league history to amass 50 goals and 50 assists in his career, a feat accomplished by Preki last year. Ed Johnson, the 17-year-old forward drafted by the Burn in the second round of this year’s draft, will be available to the team for the next two games. ARMANDO PELAEZ NAMED TO COACHING STAFF. The Burn announced today that Armando Pelaez has been named as an Assistant Coach for the team. Pelaez, 39, is a native of Venezuela and holds a United States “B” coaching license. For the last four years he has been involved with the Olympic Developmental Program and has coached the Texas Lightning youth club. Additionally, he was the assistant coach for the Texas Toros of the USL for the 1997 and ‘99 seasons. Pelaez, a professional player for 11 years, has played for the Nashville Diamonds of the American Soccer League, FC Porto in Portugal and Galicia, Tachira, Portugues and Maritimo in Venezuela. Kreis hyper-extended his right knee, the same knee that he had arthroscopic surgery on in February, on a tackle in the 63rd minute of the match. DALLAS BURN ACQUIRES GOALKEEPER CHRIS SNITKO FROM CHICAGO FOR 3RD ROUND PICK IN 2003 DRAFT. Burn Also Waives Goalkeeper Adam Zapala. The Dallas Burn acquired Chicago goalkeeper Chris Snitko for the Burn’s 3rd round pick in the 2003 MLS Draft, it was announced today by Burn President and General Manager Andy Swift. The team also waived goalkeeper Adam Zapala to meet the league’s requirement of 18 senior players on the roster. Snitko, 28, was acquired by Chicago from the Kansas City Wizards prior to the start of the 2000 season. He started five games for the Fire last year, posting a 2-3-0 record and a goals-against average of 2.00. Prior to joining the Fire, Snitko spent three years (1997-99) with Kansas City. The surgery was performed by Burn Medical Director Dr. T.O. Souryal who said that the procedure went as expected and that there were no surprises. BURN’S EL SALVADOR RELIEF EFFORT A HUGE SUCCESS
The Burn recently completed its collection of items to assist those affected by the El Salvador earthquake tragedy. As part of the collection effort, the team set up collection centers at their offices as well as at the team’s training facility. Additionally, every school that participated in the recent “Burn Out Drugs” campaign was encouraged to donate items for the effort, with the school collecting the most items winning 500 tickets to a Burn game. As a result, nearly 20,000 items, including canned goods, medical supplies, bottled water, blankets and clothes, were collected. Two schools, St. Rita’s and Cesar Chavez, each collected 3,000 items and will each receive 250 tickets to a Burn game. The Burn front office ultimately collected the most goods, with 3,500 items delivered to the team’s headquarters by staff, fans and sponsors. from Dallas Burn |

For the third year in a row, players from the Dallas Burn, along with representatives from Phoenix House, a national non-profit substance abuse service organization, will participate in the “Burn Out Drugs” program on Tuesday, January 30 and Wednesday, January 31. The “Burn Out Drugs” program consists of anti-drug assemblies presented by Burn players and Phoenix House representatives at approximately 20 schools in the Metroplex. An estimated 20,000 students are expected to be reached by this program. BURN ACQUIRES LUBOS KUBIK FROM CHICAGO - The Dallas Burn announced today that the team has traded midfielder Sergi Daniv to the Chicago Fire for sweeper Lubos Kubik. Kubik, 36, has spent the last three years with the Fire, playing in 71 games and scoring 15 goals while dishing for 22 assists.

ZARCO’S TEAM WINS EL SALVADOR CHAMPIONSHIP Jorge Rodriguez, who was loaned to CD Aguila of the El Salvador First Division in early November, has another championship to add to his resume. Aguila defeated Limeno, 3-2 last week, to capture the El Salvador championship. Aguila took a 2-0 lead in the first 50 minutes of the title match, only to see Limeno, the regular season points leader, tally with goals in the 67th and 70th minutes.
