I am Jason Cole! and I am totally dedicated to the BURN!. I have noticed how rowdy you guys are at games and it burns me w/ pride to see other soccer fans who love the sport as much as I DO!. I have a request of the Inferno to help out a team we have all heard about – The Rochester Rhinos from the A-League- they were the US Open Cup champs in 99′ and are one of the powerhouses in the A- League. In fact, they are the measure for all other teams in the A-League. They have proven they can beat MLS competition and they have began building an 18,000 – 20,000 seat stadium with the backing of the local city officials. They average 13,000- 15,000 per game in the A-League!!!!!!!!!! Hey we fell below that on many days. But hey we are doing great this year. I feel we can help the league if we can get Rochester in MLS. I spoke to the Rhino’s public relations official today on the phone and shot some ideas to him since the league (MLS) has overlooked Rochester for a spot in the upcoming expansion. I would like to ask the Inferno to join me in supporting the Rhinos ’s bid for promotion to the MLS. I can bring signs for us to post and hold up around the stadium to get the league’s attention. Hey! Let’s face it we all want more great teams for the MLS. And Rochester is perfect for MLS. Will you supporters join me in this endeavor ? I surely hope so – let’s show the MLS our passion and our support of the most beautiful game!!!! Please contact me at texasrover77@aol.com or by phone 903-561- 7195 I ‘ll call you right back!

With the Money MLS loses, I don’t think you want to be in MLS. But certainly deserve to be. – Ed

Thanks for your game report. We were not able to make it to the game ($800 R/T to Dallas from Seattle) but reading your comments we feel a little bit closer to what happened. Wished we could get a video of the game but doubt the Burn Coach will be very agreeable to send us one but I ask anyway. If possible, let me know and I will pay for whatever costs will be involved. Thanks.

My son (#4 Ben Somoza) enjoyed his visit to Dallas and saw his old friend Ryan Suarez that played with him in the U-23 Region IV team the last two years. Ryan is a great kid!

Your mention of #3 on the Top Ten Games list as the start of the Dal-Chi rivalry is misplaced, I believe. Before that was the USOC game, three red cards, THEY won 3-2 to knock us out as defending champs of the USOC — and while there were no broken legs, there were a lot of hard feelings. On both sides.

Now the game you mention was OUR first draw of blood — sort of, “we can do it too!” — but it was not the start of the rivalry.

Again, including that game on the list I don’t argue — IMO, it was the beginning of the team that kicked tail in ‘99 — but it wasn’t the beginning of the rivalry, and I would add that the USOC game should have been included in the list.

Good point, we fixed it. But USOC game doesn’t make “best” as it was a loss. -Ed.

Hi, my name is Filip and I come from the Croatian (that’s in Europe ) capital Zagreb. I’m the fan of NK Dinamo Zagreb (Bad Blue Boy). I try to know as much as I can about other fan groups in the world and I’ve managed to do it so far, but the US stays a big mystery to me. I would like to know as much as I can about the soccer fan subculture in the US (are there any fights, traditional rivalries, the number of fans that go to other cities with their clubs, how well organized are the fan clubs, etc.). I have lots of fan pics (mostly stadium material) from the Croatian soccer league that I’ve collected during the last few years (jpegs & gifs) if you are interested.

The masses want an up to the minute calendar with everything on it from player appearances, games, practices and kickoff luncheon. Have a link where anyone can email you updates that they know about. Maybe a map section especially since the new practice facility is unknown.
