10 million people in the New York Metropolitan area, and this brand-spanking new, state-of-the art Red Bull stadium is half full. This makes me want to say bad words. At least the supporters group behind the goal (where a supporters group should be, in my view) is really loud and well-organized. Of course that just reminds me of how much I really miss standing with the Inferno on a regular basis. Standing and singing for 90 minutes is really the only way to watch live soccer.
A hot keeper aided by some poor finishing and a soft pk call at the end spell defeat for FCD.

Bouna Coundoul, the Red Bulls goalkeeper, was the butt of jokes across the league after his screamer a week earlier to give up an own goal. But Coundoul was absolutely amazing in the second-half of this match to keep things close for his club. Coundoul’s point-blank save on David Ferreira’s shot near the start of the first half apparently made Coundoul into Superman. Time after time, Coundoul turned back goals. Give the man credit, he was simply great.

First road game of the season tomorrow night
I had heard this week that a technical director hire by FCD was imminent. So at training on Thursday I asked Hyndman about it and he had a LOT to say. So here’s the entire sequence about the technical director hire. It wouldn’t quite fit in the practice report.
What a beautiful day, the second best time of the year IMO (I love the fall more). The flowers are out, the Byron is around the corner, and as long as the allergies aren’t out of control it’s a fantastic time of year to be out at FC Dallas training.
