UIL Team of Century

March 16th, 2010 . 12:05 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

You can vote here for the boys team and here for the girls.

I don’t know squat about girls soccer, so I didn’t vote for them.  I probably only marginally know about boys over the last 10 years but at least I know something.

Here are my votes for the boys team.

Forward: Kyle Brown, Sonny Guardarrama, and Johnny Torres.

Midfield: Imad Baba, Casey Hibbs, Lee Nguyen, and Dillon Powers.

Defense: Jeff Agoos, Chris Gbandi, and Ricky Lewis

Goalkeeper: Mark Dodd

No vote for Clint Dempsey at forward? That punk scored two goals in OT to knock us out of the playoffs my senior year.

I wonder if he ever made a name for himself…

Jimmy Dowell as a striker, he still shooting like a missile nowadays!

I felt like Clint made most of his bones in classic league over UIL.

No vote for Chris Goos? Pretty sure he led Klein to a few titles starting when he was just a sophomore.

I love how they are doing an all century team when Soccer has been a UIL sport for not even 30 years.

I played against Imad Baba he was a great player on a decent team. I have refereed Lee Nyguen and Dillion Powers games. The others I can not speak directly about but I will say that for the most part you have picked a pretty good team.

Agoos and Dodd belong on the list, don’t know about the rest. I do know one thing…a lot of great players from the glory years of Richardson area soccer left off the list!
