Hyndman in Uruguay

March 7th, 2010 . 6:55 am . By: Buzz Carrick

A report surfaced in a local Spanish language blog paper from South American that FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman heading to Uruguay to scout an unnamed player.

3rd Degree has confirmed with local Dallas sources that Hyndman was indeed in Uruguay Saturday to see a potential signing in person.  At this time we have been unable to learn the identity of said player.

And since I don’t speak Spanish I can’t find the original story either.  If anyone can find it feel free to post the link.

Edit: the post also says Daniel Hernandez will be named captain.  Which should shock exactly no one.

Well, he’s been productive everywhere he’s been. Seems like he’d be good for a couple of years.

It is not Abreu for sure, he just signed with Botafogo and is a starter there, he has been playing good and is very happy there, so there is no chance of Loco Abreu coming here.

It’s probably Diego Forlan’s 5th cousin also named Diego Forlan. Schellas just knows someone said he was good.

Surely it’s not Abreu. He is with Botafogo under coach Joel Santana, and he has been doing very well. I liked the idea of scouting in Uruguay, there are very good players and very cheap, and they are also very hard-nosed players, which I believe is one of the things that our attack is missing.
By the way, here is the link to the article mentioned in the text: http://texasfutgol.blogspot.co...aniel-hernadez-el-capitan.html

Most starter in Uruguay First Division, earn less 20k. This is not Penerol or Nacional or maybe Danubio.

I tried looking for something else in Spanish and couldn’t find anything on this trip to Uruguay. :???:

Either way, there is this Australian forward playing for River Plate, of Uruguay not Argentina.

Melbourne Victory of the Aussie A-League are also looking at him.

    Sonny,

Porta would be an amazing addition, but he is under contract with A.C. Siena, who is loaning him out to the Uruguayan side River Plate. This means he is not likely to come cheap, especially in a bidding war with Melbourne Victory. He is 25 and a proven goal finisher, and guys like that are as rare as hen’s teeth. A.C. Siena will demand a hefty price or else they will just continue to loan him out until (a) someone brings the big coin or (b) he is ready to step up to the Serie A Italian league.

That being said, I suspect Porta would fare well with FC Dallas because of how many Spanish speaking players we have on board, and the fact that we are much closer to his home country. Porta does not speak English it seems, and while born in Aussie land, he moved to Uruguay as a child.

Buzz, any other news out there? People are getting antsy about a striker deal.
