I’m surprised there has been no mention of Jay Needham signing a three year deal with the Austin Aztex this week. I would have thought surely Buzz would be commenting on that one….

I was aware of it, just been focused on start of FCD camp.

Go Jeff, Heath, and Dax! :-) The more USMNT training and experience our players get, the more that FCD will benefit as a result.

I am excited about our chances in the 2010 campaign. If we can go deep into the playoffs during a world cup year, the exposure factor alone will be huge.

Buzz, when the year begins, you should start your “points” clock target at 50. :- ) Oh, the optimism of a new season, yes?

Agree with Schellas that Cunningham was set up for failure in the last game. Being one-dimensional is only bad if you aren’t scoring. If it was me, I’d stick him up top, then if he scores in the next game I’d watch what he does in MLS for the first month or two. If he’s still fairly productive, I put him on the plane to SA as a backup.

Glad that Dax gets another shot…he looked fairly decent in his limited minutes, with only one real mistake that I could see. Looked dangerous pretty much the whole time.

You gotta think Pearce’s battle is uphill at this point. One more good outing from Bornstein and it’s all over.

JC’s been great for us and well deserved his call-up, but “set up to fail” seems roughly equivalent to “inserted into the current system.” I’m not saying anyone’s to blame, just that if Jeff can’t be productive in the system the Nats have been building for four years, this is not the time to start tweaking it for him. I think he deserves another look vs El Salvador, but not in any kind of 1-forward system the other players haven’t been dealing with.

Besides, if he doesn’t make South Africa, FCD will win more games.

cowtown – I think the issue is Jeff would fit better in the role Findley played against Honduras. Swap him and Findley against El Sal and see who is more productive.
