FCD News Recap

Hernandez locked up for 2010, and he believes he will contribute even more than he did last year.

Veteran Hernandez keyed FCD run – MLSnet.com – S. Hunt

I haven’t had a chance to hear this yet. Last night Sala was on the radio airwaves of the hated Houston Dynamo. I predict the chances of radio gold are greater than zero.

Ives is saying VDB is officially on the trading block for FCD due to cap concerns. Interesting.

I know he isn’t getting any younger, but WTF?

If Shea’s still on the Team next year, you want to play him. He looked best suited to play VDB’s spot.

Alternatively, Pearce could go there depending on what the team make-up is.

Those of you surprised by VDB news need to go back and read Buzz’s off season article. The hints of this possibly going down were there.

Hate to see his assists and leadership go even though there are younger players avaliable to fill in. Not sure it will be the same.

Wonder what we’ll get for him? Allocation money?

I went back to the article and it dose not say anthing about getting rid of DVB it just mentions getting a right back so that Pearce can fill in and give DVB a break over the season. As versital as DVB was last year it seems like you would have to get a lot for that type of player. I know picking up Ngyuen would be a help but not sure if he is capable of playing as many positions.

He didn’t say it explicitly because at the time the decision wasn’t made, but he was giving you a peek into the clubs thought processes regarding the possibility of fielding a squad without VDB.

I can see what Chamo’s saying as a valid interpretation of the article. VdB is more of a luxury than a necessity for FCD as the roster stands now. Too much young talent that needs PT, especially if they land Nguyen. He played well last season, and Oduro was pretty low value at the time of the trade, and is probably lower now. I think FCD still comes out on top overall even if the get very little for VdB now.
