Good News & Bad News
December 10th, 2009 . 1:23 pm . By: Buzz CarrickFirst the Bad News Many of you may not know that, like many others, this has been a difficult year for me work wise. I can’t say I got laid off, as being a freelance contractor I still get work, but I did lose my package/client that was 90% of my income. Yes, eggs in a basket and all that. But it was a really nice basket. Point being that I planned not to go to the College Cup for cost reasons. I had still managed to budget for the MLS Combine. Then I got offered some new work that I can’t pass up because not only is it work, it’s form a new client and it could lead to more work. The problem is that some of this work falls during the MLS Combine. Therefore this year I won’t be going. Believe me I’m gutted about it, the MLS Combine is my favorite event of the entire year. But you gotta do what you gotta do. Soccer doesn’t pay the bills. C’est la vie. Hopefully this will be a one year hiatus and next year I can return to the Combine. Now the Good News Since I wasn’t going to make the College Cup I contacted my friend who has leaked me the MLS Generation adidas list for about 7 years now. He was happy to send me the list again. So it’s now updated on the Ga Tracking page. This is the initial wish list that MLS wants feedback from MLS coaches on. Not all these guys will be signed and there might be a few added by signing time. It’s just the starting point. Fascinatingly enough this years document also includes a list of potential senior signings that MLS might target pre-draft. I’ll post that later today. Like the GA list this isn’t necessarily comprehensive, but it give us a good idea of who some of the top senior players might be. The document also includes the list of nominated seniors for the MLS Combine. This is the list the conferences sent to MLS. MLS coaches will now vote on the list and the Combine committee will pick the players based on all the feedback. The combine list was just announced in fact. This won’t be the complete draft pool, but it’s close. 11 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

That’s too bad, I really enjoyed your combine coverage, I found it the most comprehensive on the web. It helps to build your wish list when discussing the draft
Thanks bone. I like to think my combine stuff is good. I’m really bummed about this. But life goes on.
[...] I mentioned in my post about missing the combine and getting the Generation adidas list, the document I got has the list of senior player targets for potential pre-draft [...]
Buzz,
You made the right decision. We all know that you will continue to satiate our thirst for all things FCD.
I agree with Balonpie wholeheartedly. And Nando is right, Richeson is trialing in Europe this summer
Your combine stuff is the best. By far. Heartbreaking news! But all your readers are glad you got work.
perk is a senior
Sorry to hear you wont be going this year, it’s how I first stumbled across 3rddegree and one of the reasons I continue to read it regularly, despite not being a fan of the team.
I hope you don’t mind me mentioning, but one of my mates, Sean Keay, over at mlsdraft.net will be going down and should provide some excellent coverage in your absence.
Hope you’re back next year.
