Not Dir

By: Buzz CarrickI just checked with Dave Dir and he says, “No, I have not had any discussions with FC Dallas about the position.” Most of my hooked in sources keep saying the same thing. The new TD will be someone who is closer to coach Hyndman, perhaps someone from his “SMU family.” It’s a shame it’s not going to be Dir. I think he would be an outstanding candidate. He did a ton of scouting for MLS back before it launched and has a bunch of connections in the soccer world both in and out of the US. He’s also bilingual and knows both this team and its coach. He knows MLS, the American player, is involved in the US youth system, and has MLS caoching experience. Dir would be an ideal candidate. yeah, if it were to happen, I have the mental picture of Dir standing behind SH yelling out in a Yosemite Sam voice: “No, No… You’re doing it all wrong!”
I just can’t see Dave Dir willing to have SH as his “boss”. Can you say “Workplace Personality Conflict”?
Dir is bilingual? What other language does he speak?
I agree with Rich. That Dir would not have Schellas as his boss and I do not think the Hunts will make anyone other than SH the main man. So who ever comes in will have to be on an equal or lower level than SH
Would Dir really say if he was in the running? Of course not so he may well be an option. I think SH will be TD and he will hire a coach just like Mo Johnson did to get out of the heat of managing.
