Anthony Wallace Graduated from Generation Adidas
November 23rd, 2009 . 7:04 pm . By: Buzz CarrickOr were Shea, Lambo, Marosevic, Guarda, and Avila also graduated? FCD says only Wallace was graduated.
Which do you think is correct? The FCD blog or Ives? Edit: I talked to FCD, they checked with MLS and the list that went out was in error. FCD has confirmed that only Anthony Wallace was graduated among their players. 11 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

The FCD blog, because Ives gets a bit hasty sometimes.
Ives just updated and said he’s been informed that his list is wrong, specifically concerning Frei. So I’m saying his list is bogus.
Ives got his from the “official” list sent out by MLS. Problem is that list is wrong as he has already stated. He already was told by sources that Sebestian Frei didn’t graduate from GA but he is on the list. God bless MLS.
I would be surprised if Frei did NOT graduate since playing time is supposedly a big factor in the equation.
Ives is a joke, especially as it relates to Dallas.
He couldn’t spell “attention to detail” if you spotted him everything but the “to”.
Doug, I’m not going to argue whatever your issue with Ives is. You are entitled to your opinion. However, this list that Ives posted is on the MLSNet.com site and is listed as an official press release. They actual list every GA player as being graduated, even ones that haven’t seen the field once. You can’t really blame him for posting an official release that MLS f’d up.
Wally has “freakish” potential, I hope we keep him
What is the criteria for moving a player off GA? What are the pros/cons for the player or team?
PhillyMLS – pretty much everyone who has half a brain looked at that list and knew it was wrong, or at least had very strong suspicions and said so. And not just here – Big Soccer, etc. Ives didn’t even do that.
My issue with Ives is that he is a shoddy journalist, and makes people like Buzz and Steve Davis look bad by association. Additionally, he hasn’t taken the time to really report well on any team outside New York, yet he presents himself as a national journalist. Specific to Dallas, his analysis has always been paper-thin shallow and almost always wrong.
If he were just some kid with a blog or Big Soccer account firing off a hot sports opinion, that would be one thing. But he is trying to be a national journalist and that means a higher standard. He put himself in this position, and it comes with the territory.
Pony, player are moved off ga for playing time or for years in the program. Wallace is was for years in program.
The down side is the player has to now earn a full roster spot at what is usually a high salary. In this case there is little upside. Wallace is in real roster trouble here now.
Not to make this the bash Ives thread, but PhillyMLS, take a look at the list Ives put out about who will be drafted in the Expansion Draft.
For the sake of objectivity, I’d love to see Buzz’s take on that list.
