2010 FCD Jersey Hints

November 13th, 2009 . 3:32 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

One of our connections on the jersey/menchadise side of the soccer game tells us that adidas is saying FCD will be wearing the adidas Stricon jersey in 2010.  Stricon is a new style jersey that will not available until 12/25/09. FCD will be wearing a version that has horizontal stripes.

3rd Degree has managed to obtain a picture of the generic Stricon template.  As you can see from the pics below the generic Stricon has vertical stripes.

We’re also hearing that the FCD home kit will be more red and less white than before.

Here’s one artist’s rendering of what the 2010 FCD jersey might look like.

hopefully they will look better horizontal…..

Why obviously? FCD has dropped the Hoops moniker, what’s to stop them from pushing vertical? The look is distinctive, but it’s also limiting in terms of fan-wear.

With that said, wow, that would look like Chivas if we went vertical. Who knows.

The info that it would be horizontal stripes came with the info about the model. That’s not just me assuming.

I put the word obvious in because that’s the current jersey branding of the team.

I edited to make it more clear.

I like it better than the horizontal ‘hoops’ look. However, i still think that they need a SOLID away or 3rd kit.

doesn’t it look like Chivas uniforms?

  6. Comment by Steve on November 13, 2009 4:25 PM

The little stitch marks are an improvement over the plain stripes, but I’d still like to see the white be a little thinner than the red, and blue thinner than white on the away. I hope the adidas shoulder stripes will end up white like this template, they should feel they have to force blue into the uniform.
I don’t like the red flaps on the side that break up the pattern. Why does adidas tend to do that?

maybe its to look more like our Brasil partner CAP…..

Thanks for clarifying. I just wouldn’t have been surprised to see them go away from the horizontal. Hoops make look like having big belly and all that.

Damnit, I wish we had something better to discuss.

Better at least, so that’s a positive. I wish we could go with something like the Chelsea third kit for next season adjusted for our colors. Whoever suggested that we have one solid kit as well…I concur.

I still think that CAP’s third jersey to honor FCD is the best FC Dallas-related jersey that’s been made.

That thing is just simple and elegant.

Looks like its Umbro though, and Adidas would probably steer miles clear from it.

I think I like it, though I’ll have to wait to see the final product. I do like that there’s a lot more red than white on this kit. I’m assuming the back is going to be solid red, or at least solid red where the numbers are?

I like it! Looks powerful… like a jersey worn by champions! I HOPE THE MLS DROPS THE CALCULATOR FONT THOUGH…. I CAN NEVER TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 1 AND A 7!

this looks like it could be nice. sadly i won’t be dropping $110 anytime soon on the new replica.

i remember seeing Chelsea wear these and thought this would look amazing on FCD. using two shades of red, or combo red/blue. that could be so sweet!

It looks like the new name – not complete “Hoops”, but rather “Red Stripes”. I like it. More red on the homer is better. Likewise, I hope the roadie has more blue.

Kinda curious Buzz. How many times for jersey change will this make?? How many times did the old Burn change?? Hmmmmmmm

Go to the Archives / History section – next to each year about the fourth word is Jersey – click on that to see a year by year.

    Mott,
Pretty sure it’s MLS policy now that every club change their jerseys every two years.

Pretty sure you’re right Steve, and I think it’s more about dollars for adidas from sales. Probably written into the MLS sponsorship contract.

the proposed new unis look like bayern munich’s. so, i’m expecting it to look much like that. btw, who sponsor’s bayern’s brand of jersey?

  20. Comment by Steve on November 16, 2009 9:59 AM

    dustin,
Did you really just propose that FCD emulate the ugliest jerseys in the EPL, but with maroon and pink instead of navy and light blue?

  21. Comment by mike on November 16, 2009 10:02 AM

I like both looks, would also love to see the “body armour” look that we currently see on Chelsea’s jersey! Any chance on getting a jersey sponsor for the coming yr for FCDallas?
