Last February, he received an emergency call up for the Texas Outlaws road trip to Alberta, and scored four goals in two games in Edmonton and Calgary. He was offered a spot on the team for the 2009-10 season, but declined so he could devote more time to his studies at UNT. The Outlaws will dedicate their season opener to him (5:00pm Sunday, November 15 vs San Diego Sockers at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills). It's a tragic loss, indeed.

I just heard from my mom. My parents have known Freddy's dad since the early 80's. Huge shock. My mom worked with Freddie Sr. Dad played soccer with him. I always saw Freddy Jr. at the games. Can't believe this.

I was lucky to have gotten to play soccer with Freddy and become friends with him over the last few years at UNT, he is honestly one of the nicest people I have ever met met. Anyone who was lucky enough to spend anytime with Freddy knew how great of a guy he was.
I was absolutely shocked when I heard this terrible news, this is an absolute tragedy. He was always so positive and outgoing, the kind of person who was always lifted those around him.
Freddy always loved playing soccer, he went to FCD/ Burn after playing at Jesuit HS in Dallas. He was finishing up his last year of college at UNT, and always enjoyed every opportunity he had to play with FCD.
I still can't believe that this really happened, Freddy has left such a positive impact on so many people.
Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Freddy was playing on that men's team for one reason: he wanted to play with his father, who was still quite good, even if he was well up there in years. That kid was super nice. Very respectful. I had the pleasure of running into frequently over the years and, no matter how many times I told him, "Call me Steve," it was always, always, always "Mr. Davis." And always with a big smile and warm greeting. Like his father, he was a real gentleman.

What happened to him? In any case may the Lord give him his reward and may the family be comforted during this difficult time.

I played against Freddy when he was slumming in men's league years ago. I didn't know him well, but found him after the game and told him he was too good, and should get out of there before some oaf like me hurt him. He was definitely a star in that crowd.

I ran into him years later at the Cotton Bowl and learned he was practicing with FCD, and I could hope nothing but the best for him. He was always kind, smiling, and seemed to be enjoying every bit of his life. It's amazing how some people stick with you after just moments of passing, but I'm stunned to read this news.

May light perpetual shine upon him.
