In a perhaps not shocking development, FC Dallas striker Jeff Cunningham has been named MLS Player of the Month. Cunningham notched 7 goals and 3 assists during the month with FCD going 3-1-1 in that time. Cunningham has now scored 15 goals in 12 games. Cunningham now leads MLS in goals with 16, one ahead of the Rapids’ Conor Casey. this is Cunningham’s second POTM award, the previous coming in August of 2006 with Real Salt Lake.
Big week for FCD in voting.
I know he doesn’t play here anymore, but his recall is still worth mentioning.
There have been seen some strange things in MLS over the years but have we ever seen a hot streak like this? 15 16 goals in 12 14 games since Cooper was traded. Jeff predicted he would score 20 this year, but I don’t think even he meant in half a season.
Following last week’s excellent end-to-end shutout victory, FC Dallas again played a nearly flawless match as they used a goal from the head of Jeff Cunningham to forge a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution at a festive Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. Playing as opening billing to the Mexico / Columbia friendly, FC Dallas beat the Revolution for the first time since 2006.
