Practice Observations: Staying Hot

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009, 9:30 AM, Dr Pink Turf Field

It’s actually cold today in Frisco, or at least cold to a Texan as the temps are in the 50s. Hyndman cuts short training cause of the chill. He says he’s been coaching so long he’s learned to trust his instincts about weather. Good call I think, training a this time of year isn’t about fitness. So cutting it short is a good idea, it’s not worth the risk of injury.

Cunningham on Reading

And Hyndman on Cunningham

October 21st, 2009 . By: Buzz Carrick

You may have noticed the little blurb yesterday linking Reading FC to FCD’s Jeff Cunningham. These kinds of links pop up all the time in the soccer press. Sometimes they are real, sometimes it’s one party or another trying to stir the contract pot, occasionally it’s someone taking “I’m going to Greece [for vacation],” and making it a story about said player signing in Greece. Yes that one really happened. One of our intrepid contributors caught up with Cunningham. (Hey, it’s what we do.)

Second Opinion: The Staff

Dir-ection: Win or lose, should Hyndman be kept on for next season?

October 21st, 2009 . By: Dave Dir

I feel it is important that I discuss this subject now, because winning or losing the last game, possibly making the playoffs, and this current win streak, are not going to change my opinion. Everyone thinks they look at things objectively, but that is very hard to do and few understand what that means, in my experience. I am always striving to be one of those that do so, although I am sure I don’t always achieve that goal.

Is it time to start considering that his plan might have worked or is this playoff charge the result of one man getting hot? The team seems better, maybe credit is now due to the coach.

Game Grades: Colorado Rapids at FC Dallas

October 20th, 2009 . By: Peter Welpton

Schellas Hyndman has done something rather magical with what was, just a few months ago, a honestly terrible side. For the first time in several weeks I went out and watched the team in person. What Dallas is trotting out on the pitch is a squad with pace, balance and patience.

Zip It: Colorado Rapids vs FC Dallas

October 18th, 2009 . By: Jay Brownlee

FC Dallas continued their scorching hot run for an improbable playoff berth Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco with a well-played 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids in front of 15,243. In a virtual must-win match for the home club, Dallas defenders George John and Ugo Ihemelu provided all the scoring Dallas would need for the win.
