A close friend of mine is a soccer journalist that covers Reading FC for one of the local papers and he says he’s not heard anything about it. It aint happening.
Plus, having grown up 15 mins from Reading I konw that JC9 doesn’t want to be moving there. Dreary, cold, expensive and full of chavs. Sat in Big D Jeff

I didn’t read the article (obviously). Not worth the money to let him go at that price.

If the money is right, sell.

Steve, you couldn’t be more right if you tried. This should be a selling league, In fact, I’ve thought for awhile that teams here should be scouting obscure talent from Africa, Eastern Europe, South and Central America, the Caribbean, 17 & 18 year olds. Get them on the cheap, develop them for 2-3 years, then sell them on for 500k or more to Europe or Asia, and turn profits that way.

There is no shame in being a selling league, most small Euro countries are, all of South America is, all of Africa is as well. Make the money and reinvest in the future players.

Steve you idiot, The Office was set in Slough not Reading.

And for the record, we DON’T want a 33 year old player from the MLS. Crap league where footballers go for a massive payout or to retire. David Beckham obviously being in the first catergory.

Keep him. We don’t want him. He’ll just steal a spot on the bench from a decent player.

I think he’s finally found a spot where he’s thriving. He obviously loves it here. I doubt he’ll go anywhere. Of course, money talks, so anything can happen, but, given his advanced age and shaky reputation around the league, I doubt any suitors will offer a sweet enough deal to pry him out of this excellent situation he’s enjoying here at FCD.

While I’d hate to see him go, soccer players have a short career and if he can get a big contract at the end of it and he wants to go, then he owes it to his family’s financial future to make the jump.
