It’s not a concussion nor a detached retina.
I didn’t make it out to training this week, but other reporters did. Among other things Hyndman was asked about Kyle Davies’ injury. Here’s what coach Hyndman said.
What’s the situation with Kyle Davies injury?
There is always concern when a player could be injured, especially if they have a little bit of history. What we did was immediately when he came back, he took him to our specialist. We were concerned that it might have been diagnosed as a detached retina and that’s not the case. There is an injury there but it’s not as serious as a detached retina or something that needs surgery. The response from the doctor was that he was seeing from blurriness when he heads the ball and got a blow to the head. That’s going to be normal and they told him to maybe stay away from heading in training and go a little bit lighter. We hope to have him 100% back in the next three weeks.
Wasn’t it diagnosed as a concussion?
I don’t know if it was diagnosed. He didn’t have the dizziness. What he had was the blurriness. That’s why when he got hit in the Under-20s against Germany, we were all surprised when he came back against Korea because we all assumed it was a concussion and it wasn’t. It was an injury to the eye.
The history he mentioned it the concussion Davies had a month of so again playing for FCD. One can’t help but wonder if this injury doesn’t date from that time and was just made worse at the 20s. But that’s pure speculation on my part.
So good new that the injury isn’t too bad and Davies could return soon if there is a playoff run.

More importantly it’s not some sort of post-concussion syndrome that would be possibly career ending…Davies is one for the future, we can survive the rest of this year without him.
Charlie Davies and Kyle Davies…
very confusinig.
It shouldn’t be confusing any more. Still, I saw a post somewhere else on this here infernal site that indicated that the writer thinks Kyle may be fine and was just not playing as well as the starter. That’s not the case at all.
