New FCD Public Relations Director

October 10th, 2009 . 7:13 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

According to HoopFeed.com, Leigh-Ann Gullet, the former Media Services Manager for the Silver Stars of the WNBA, is the new Public Relations Director for FC Dallas.

Gullet left the Silver Stars this month and is now the Director of Communications and Public Relations at FC Dallas, a Major League soccer team.

Apparently she won kudos for tweeting funny stories about players during halftime of Silver Stars games this season.

I’m not sure how happy I am that there’s another new non-soccer person involved with media and pr at FC Dallas.  Hope it works.

I really have no comment until we see how much this new person knows about soccer and more importantly… SOCCER SUPPORTERS! A good start would be for the lady in question to come on over to 120/ 121 to hang with the Inferno and El Matador for a night to see what it is really like to support a soccer team.

If we’re not gonna get a soccer person, anyone good enough for Peter Holt is good enough for me, he runs a great operation down in San Antonio. I know Buzz wants Dallas Cowboys FC, but I wouldn’t mind being the Dallas Spurs.

This person needs to go straight to the phone and call Cecilia Novoa and hire her on the spot.. Watch the Latin fans come back……

The only thing we know for sure is that she’s either making way under the avg for PR types or that someone is sponsoring her salary.

Tater, the last few have been soccer types. Mark Janko was a hockey guy a few turns back.

I’m keeping my mind open. The proof will be, as the say, in the pudding.

    That’s him!
I remember him now, he was a nice guy but didn’t know a goal kick from a corner kick.

I think he wwent back to the Stars after the strike was over.

Or better yet – she should go down to Robertson Stadium and hang with Texian Army to see what it’s really like to support a soccer team..

Really Time for Oscar? Just hire Cecilia Novoa and all the Latin fans would come back? Really?

So GBBomber … do they have more than 20 in the stands there these days. The photos I saw looked pretty depressing if you’re a Houstank fan LOL!

This is funny! A women with no soccer background…sounds like a great hire already!! At least Hitchcock is not coming back next season! Change has to start there and move through the ranks. Still questionable if this club can be saved. Lot’s of work to be done!

A new coach, now that would be something to get excited about.

I don’t know why you would want to replace SH at this point. He’s finally built the roster to his liking and the team is performing. Hiring a new coach would set the team back at least 2 more seasons.

Tinsley – what’s your source on Hitch? It would not surprise me, but I have not seen any announcement.

Actually Historian Cecilia was a very important part of the FO in the Burn years. I doubt the overnight aspect but give her a little time and there would be definate improvement.

It’s PR, why does that person need to have a soccer background? It’s not like she is making any decisions that would affect how the team is run, she is there to ensure the clubs name gets out and if anything bad happens, spin it correctly. A soccer background in this type of position wouldn’t change any of this. At least she has worked in sports, that to me is far more important. And a niche sport at that.

    can’t say.

  18. Comment by historian on October 13, 2009 9:50 AM

Pegasus – I realize that. I was just pointing out that hiring Cecilia alone would not have the Hispanic fans “flocking” back. Just trying to inject a bit of reality back into the statement regarding the current situation. Otherwise, it makes it seem as if the only thing missing is one person, when in fact, there are many, many things that are being done wrong. At least in regards to Hispanic marketing, things have gone from “well oiled machine” to “jalopy” and one person alone isn’t going to get the clunker running on all cylinders again.
