Elias on Cunningham

October 3rd, 2009 . 12:22 am . By: Buzz Carrick

Peter Hirdt of the Elias Sports Bureau has some great stuff on Cunningham.  Elias is the official stats provider of MLS and a ton of other spots leagues and networks in the US.  So when he talks stats you should listen.

First off he answers the question of when in MLS we have seen a comparable hot streak to Cunningham’s current one: Stern John in 1998, 16 goals in 12 games.

Here are some other tidbits…

- When Cooper left Cunningham was 65th in the league in goals.  Now he’s first.

- During his 15-in-12 surge, he has scored more than twice as many times as any other player in the league.

- Cunningham’s has eight career goals in a 1-0 victory, breaking a tie with Landon Donovan, Brian Ching, and Jason Kreis for the all-time MLS high.

- Since July 4th, FCD has the third best record in the league behind Columbus and LA Galaxy.

What a bizarre season this has been.
