FCD Signs Junior’s Player Bryan Leyva

Bryan Leyva (courtesy FCD Communications)FC Dallas has announced the signing of FCD Junior’s player Bryan Leyva. Leyva is a highly regarded midfielder who training with the Mexican National team at the age of 14 and is currently with the Mexico U17s. Multiple foreign professional clubs have attempted to sign the player since then, but none of the deals has worked out. Leyva has trained with the senior FCD side on numerous occasions. This signing to a generation adidas deal means Leyva bypasses the MLS SuperDraft. Leyva is the 6th player signed in MLS straight from a club’s academy system.

Purdy to Rejoin FC Dallas

Anthony Wallace will go on season ending IR with a torn meniscus in his knee.

I’ve asked around and word is trickling out from people close to the team that FC Dallas will re-acquire Steve Purdy just prior to today’s roter freeze deadline to replace Anthony Wallace.  Wallace has re-aggravated his knee and has a torn meniscus, which saw him dropepd from the US U20 team.  Wallace will now be placed on season ending injured reserve by FCD which will make room for Purdy’s return.  Nothing has yet been confirmed by FC Dallas.

FCD striker Jeff Cunningham has been named MLS Player of the Week for his two goal and two assist performance against The LA Galaxy. That’s the third POTW award for Cunningham in the last 11 weeks. With 12 goals this season, and 8 games remaining, Cunningham is within striking distance of the franchise single season mark of 18 held by Jason Kreis.
