MLS has released the schedule of home openers.  FCD gets an opening weekend home start against their in-state rivals Houston Dynamo.  Dallas is not listed in the week two games, which means they are either at home again or have the week off.

REGULAR SEASON – WEEK 1
Saturday, March 27, 2010

Or Dallas could be on the road for Week 2, playing a team who were Home the 1st week too.

That will be a great home opener!

    Early “bye” weeks are stupid.

so we’re losing our home opener…great

With an even number of teams bye weeks are stupid for any week. Especially since the league is taking multiple weeks off for WC2010.

I doubt anyone has a bye Week 2
In week 2 FCD will probably just play one of the 7 other teams that opened at home
What is weird though is that Toronta does NOT have a home opener yet?

MLS only listed the home openers, so FCD has a legit chance to have 2 home games back-to-back. They’d be listed as the road team for another team’s home opener, if they weren’t playing 2 at home in the beginning.

Either that, or what Rich said…it could be an away game against a team that opened at home.

Coming off the year we’re having, this becomes a big risk home opener for fan morale in 2010. If we were to lose against our biggest rival right out of the gate, the already tentative fan base (that is…the remaining fan base) will likely retreat into the shadows again.

    To Travis,

Well, of course it is entirely possible we will lose, but this is an entirely different team, and this is MLS, so who knows? We recently beat them 1-0 here at home, and it should have been 3-0.

Houston is so well-coached that they will be competitive no matter what, but many of their recent trades and player moves, other than getting Cameron from SJ, have not been impressive at all.
