Soccerroo,

If MLS did a Fall-Spring Schedule, the league would fold.

I also hope conferences go away, but another part of me wonders what the purpose of a single table vs. conference change would be without the normal relegation factor. Also, it seems to me that a single table would eliminate the need for a playoff. At the end of the season, the one team with the best record is the league champion, with those falling close behind qualifying for CONCACAF Champions League. The winner of the playoffs is the team who finishes hot, not necessarily the team we want to represent in the Champions league. Consider that if the Red Bulls would have won, they would have been down in Saprissa instead of the Crew this week. An ugly thought. ; - )

That's how it is now. Conferences only determine seedings for playoffs.

I figure they'll add 4 games and stick with a balanced schedule next year, because Portland and Vancouver certainly couldn't be in the Eastern Conf. Hopefully at that point the conferences will official go away. Their only influence next year will be in the seeding of the conferences anyway.

Happy to see the balanced schedule. With the revised playoff system of the last couple of years, I'm hopeful MLS is heading to a single table system.
