Wallace Out for Worlds
September 15th, 2009 . 2:46 pm . By: Buzz CarrickWe reported that Anthony Wallace re-aggravated his knee injury in last week’s Practice Observations, and he has now been replaced on the US roster for the U20 World Championships. Gerson Mayen of Chivas USA takes Wallace’s roster spot and Jorge Flores will most likley take Wallace’s starting position at left back. This has to be a real tragedy for the young man, who I’m sure was looking forward to the Worlds. FCD would have had five players in the team, four of them starters before this. Now Brek Shea, Peri Marosevic, Kyle Davies, and Josh Lambo will have to make the trip to Egypt without their teammate. Texan Sam Garza of the University of Devner has also been replaced after injuring his knee. Hertha Berlin’s Bryan Arguez repalces Garza Two other Texans who do not play in MLS are on the roster, Jared Jeffrey of Club Brugge in Belgium and Dillon Powers who is playing this winter at Notre Damn. 5 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Notre Damn….best Buzz typo evar
That ain’t a typo.
I feel really bad for Anthony – you know he has to have been looking forward to the Worlds all season.
Heal up, get rested and get fit again.
Tough break for the team as well, wasn’t he one of the team leaders or captains? And Garza’s timing really hurts his chances to be seen by pro scouts.
Tough break. He played well in 2007.
