Kenny Cooper is Not a Jelly Donut
September 12th, 2009 . 12:32 pm . By: Buzz CarrickAt least that’s what this poster says. For those that don’t know, this is a reference to the famous alleged gaffe byJohn F. Kennedy, in which he said to a Berlin crowd, “Ich bin ein Berliner.” The story goes that he should have said “Ich bin Berliner,” meaning “I am a citizen of Berlin” when instead he said the famous line “Ich bin ein Berliner” which can be translated as I am a Berliner, as in the kind of jelly donut called a Berliner. You can check the link for why this isn’t really true and why JFK said the right thing. But it’s still a famous story and joke about languages. Point being, the poster above, kein instaed of ein makes this poster read, “I am not a citizen of Berlin.” It’s a play on the JFK story because 1860 is playing Herta Berlin. Which makes this a great piece of advertising and a fantastic event poster. 7 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Brilliant. Great find Buzz.
This would be an awesome poster to have in my apartment.
It’s a shame FCD doesn’t know how to market like that
they can however, market the opposing team
Travis said best.
Kenny isn’t a jelly donut, but Schellas might be one…
Kenny Cooper with European experience must be a prime member of USAA in the world Cup. Good luck to him and 1860!
