More from Moor

September 1st, 2009 . 2:36 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

Steve Hunt got a hold of Moor and has some quotes from the ex-FCD defender.

“It was very much out of left field,” Moor said. “It was kind of a shock. Things were pretty normal when I showed up for training. Before I got out on the field, coach had me in his office and let me know what was going on and stuff. It was pretty all of a sudden.”

He does not seem upset about it at all

“”I think first and foremost, there is some excitement with going to a team like Colorado, who are a team right there in the playoff hunt,” he said. “They’re a team that has reached out to me and let me know that there is a place for me there. I’m definitely excited about that and looking forward to going to battle with them. There is definitely some disappointment on the other side and it’s not because I’m being traded or going to Colorado but because I’m leaving my hometown team and a team I’ve supported since I was a young kid.”

“Steve was somebody I respected a great deal and really loved playing for,” Moor said. “He was very much a players’ coach. He wanted his players to play for him, themselves and for their team. He was very good at motivating guys and letting guys know that he had their backs. It appears that Coach Smith is just like that. I would imagine being involved with Arsenal influences guys in similar ways and leaves quite an impression. Maybe they wanted me. Who doesn’t want to play for a coach who has opened his arms to you?”

Perhaps I am reading too much into this comment, but I do find it interesting. I think that the things he praises Morrow for are exactly what people rip SH for not being able to do. Interesting to get a player’s point of view.

What’s interesting is what he doesn’t say. Notice the praise he has for Steve Morrow and for Smith, but he never mentions anything positive about SH. He talks about the professionalism of Smith without ever mentioning the professionalism of SH. I do think the big winner in this trade is Drew Moor and I wish him well.

Its because SH is a college coach, running a college system, with his former college players. IN A PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE.

The Bill Beswick Psychologist thing convinced me beyond a doubt that SH can’t coach the players he has. So, he’s going for players he has coached before, or don’t know him from Adam (or that Ellinger was involved with).

While a mutual comfort level is always nice & necessary. Indicatons are that SH can probably only successfully coach a low percentage of players, compared to a ‘good’ coach.

Not good, I’m fully on board to get rid of SH.

This trade just shows that anyone can be traded while Bus Coach is in charge and that there is no price out of reach to get those SMU players.

In looking at the players SH has brought in, (ref: a great piece by Captain Obvious), it appears we have better talent now than pre_SH.

We know the Hunts will never fire SH. What about SH moving to TD and bring in a real professional coach who can work the system/players SH wants?

The team has actually played better of lately with the exception of that stinker in NYC. I don’t think their improved play is the result of better coaching. Rather, I believe we have better players than at the start of the season.

I like Drew Moor as a player, but I like this trade. Drew has not been at the top of his game this season.

I think FriscoFan has it right. the players maybe getting better but SH as a coach is probably just not capable of doing it at the pro level.

I hope they will overcome his (percieved)lack of ability with their play.

Don’t worry fellas, the Hunts are giving me 4 new scholarships to give out this year! And pretty soon my grandson is gonna turn 15 and be playing here…we will beat Notre Dame once and for all.
