Mayor Calls Dallas a Premier Place for Soccer

August 28th, 2009 . 2:53 am . By: Buzz Carrick

Someone forgot to tell FC Dallas.

Mayor Leppert is fired up about the Mexico/FCD doubleheader at the Cotton Bowl on Sept 30th.  At the press conference Thursday he was hyped about the “two” great soccer venues in this market.

No, not Pizza Hut Park, but rather the Cotton Bowl and Cowboys Stadium.

PHP is not in Dallas. But, hands down, it’s the greatest soccer venue in all of Frisco.

I went to a high school football game at PHP Saturday night. Two people asked me who usually plays there. FCD had no presence anywhere there. And there isn’t really any signage that I could recall that said FC Dallas that I could see, from the east side. There were numerous ads on the video board and large screens, but none for FCD. Ads for a high school football game can’t be that expensive (Top Golf was one of the ads). Most of the parents there for the first time loved the stadium, the nice seats, views, everything.

    FC’s marketing is sub par.
