2010 Uniforms

August 25th, 2009 . 2:17 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

My sources say only a “slight” change to the home kit is coming for 2010.

That change is apparently a solid red back instead of white, thus making the home kits more redish, if you will.  The blue, i.e. mostly white’ish, change strip will be unchanged I’m hearing.

No word on if there are any other tweaks.  If/when we can find some images they’ll be up on the site.

Feel free to get rid of the calculator numbers!

So basically just like the Atletico Madrid tops that I am watching right now on FS-SW, except with horizontal stripes.

Do you know if the stripes are straight or do they still fall off?

would be nice to get rid of the “droopy” stripes.

    Sorry, that’s all I got.

The half-hoops ride on; Long live the half-hoops!

The number one change that MLS needs to make across the board is to eliminate that damned numeral font! Can anyone tell the difference between 1’s and 7’s? (rhetorical question…the answer is NO ONE).

If anybody knows how to make a plea to MLS on this issue, let me know…hopefully there is still time to change the font for 2010!!!

So they are keeping the stripes, huh? Bummer. I thought maybe after the FO discontinued the use of the name “Hoops,” that they might also discontinue the wearing of the stripes/hoops. I think they would sell more jerseys if they were not horizontally striped. I have seen several people pass on buying a jersey because they thought the stripes would make them look fat.

You hardley ever see anyone walking around wearing thick horizontally striped shirts – outside of a handful of football/soccer and maybe polo clubs. If that is the identity they want to stick with and be recognized by, then ok, but it seems there could be a better Texas-style jersey that would boost regional pride in the team and be something you are proud to wear when you are away from PHP and around the many other folks who know nothing of soccer history.

I like the FCD badge. They could build off of that and style a jersey with some type of Texas longhorn “don’t mess with us or we are gonna gore you on the pitch” kind of style. That’s what I am talking about. Call me crazy.

Yeah, lose the hoops keep the badge. I like all red with a single diagonal white stripe, highlighted in blue or black.

A red back would go a long way to making the jersey we have better.

I don’t know what we could do to make our jersey a better reflection of Texas, maybe pearl snaps?

I agree, please ditch the stripes. I know they’re supposed to make us distinguishable but I just think it doesn’t look that cool.

I wasn’t a fan when the burn were around but I really like the red and black way more than the current colors.

You can’t tell me this doesn’t look cool:

I was thinking about leather collars…

  12. Comment by ryan on August 25, 2009 5:22 PM

I would kill for a jersey that could pull off pearl snaps.

  13. Comment by captincanuck on August 25, 2009 5:24 PM

Well if we want something more Texas then lets go with ass-less chaps and a pearl snap. The hoops are here to stay, personally I love them.

  14. Comment by HammerHead on August 25, 2009 6:13 PM

Hmmmm…. ass-less chaps. Can’t see Cunningham in them somehow, but maybe Rocha! I like the Hoops but wish they were complete hoops and in red and black. Maybe when I buy the team I’ll change it

I soooooooo agree on the number font though…. get rid of it please! I am blind in one eye and this makes it tough as crap!

  16. Comment by Gribbler on August 25, 2009 10:14 PM

Good. I like that we’re keeping the blue hoops. Hell, I really think both jerseys are swell, but I’d also like a 3rd. Maybe something to the Tigres inspired one we did a few years ago.

Get rid of stripes and bring back red and black.

I dont really care about the Texas-styled jersey. doesnt make a bit of difference to me. Houston doesnt have anything major TX on their jersey and nobody really cares, cuz they win.

The Hoops/Stripes will be cool to all of us if we start winning something. nobody will feel fat or droopy if we makes the playoffs and start being a player for MLS Cup. winning solves all of it.

“I have seen several people pass on buying a jersey because they thought the stripes would make them look fat. ”

The only people that stripes make look fat are FAT PEOPLE!

  21. Comment by timber on August 26, 2009 11:35 PM

Like Celtic, white shorts and socks at home.

  22. Comment by Futuregrace on August 27, 2009 1:05 AM

Hate the hoops solid jersey please

  23. Comment by Rightback on August 27, 2009 9:13 AM

Long live the half hoops. Cowboy boots instead of cleats. At least they will make a statement when they get beat…and they can say “its the shoes”

  24. Comment by Robert on August 27, 2009 8:20 PM

I like red and black much better personally, and wouldn’t it be cool to adopt hooped socks instead (like Tottenham Hotspur). This way we can keep our hooped history alive but ditched these ugly extra wide hoops (which really do not look that good). To make the stripes better, they really need to be more narrow anyway, like Celtic or Reading’s old away kit.

I hope the uniforms look good.

  26. Comment by jonesing on August 31, 2009 11:00 AM

as long as they don’t add those butt ugly collars like NYRB, I will be ok with them.
