Hyndman: Chávez Not Signed

August 17th, 2009 . 1:46 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

According to FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman, the Red Stripes have not signed Honduran Marvin Chávez.  Hyndman is well aware of Chávez as a player and FC Dallas did file a discovery on him and scouted him at the Gold Cup.  But Hyndman said at this point that no deal was in place for the Honduran International.

“Marvin Chavez, as you know, is a good player,” said Hyndman when asked about the signing.  “I saw him about a year ago when he was at Marathon, by chance, cause I was looking at Ramon Nunez.  I was watching Ramon and I said wow, this guy’s a nice player.  So we’ve always thought of him, you know, we put him on our discovery list. So that’s how much we thought of him, but as far as signing him there is nothing we can say.”

“but as far as signing him there is nothing we can say”

reads was on the table, didn’t work on both ends (am I correct in thinking our window is passed for a loan since he’s technically under contract and the transfer window is closed?)

No, a loan can happen any time cause there is no transfer of ownership.

Yeah, “nothing we can say” sure sounds like “no comment” to me.

    Or maybe he’s pleading the 5th. ;)

Did Ramon played Marathon or Olimpia in Honduras?

Ramon was at Olimpia. Hyndman must have been watching a Olimpia versus Marathon game in order to catch Nunez, and caught notice of Chavez playing on the other team

    Buzz,

I’m not sure you are right on the whole loan thing. Both Donovan and Beckham had to wait until the European window opened to join their clubs on loan. Then Beckham had to wait until the MLS transfer window opened in order to return to LA (despite him being an LA player).
