Marvin Chávez

More on the player linked to FC Dallas.

This is starting to look like a real move.

The linked article has quotes from Chávez saying he’s signed a year and a half year loan, with an option for FCD to purchase, and will be traveling up Tuesday to Dallas.  The article also indicates FCD scouted him at  the Gold Cup.

Now we do know for sure that FCD had filed discoveries on several players that they scouted at the Gold Cup.  Unfortunately anyone who could confirm this deal for me is with the team in Columbus.

There’s even a picture of Chávez wearing a FCD t-shirt.  So at least Chávez is convinced he’s coming here.

Marvin Chávez is a midfielder for Club Deportivo Marathon who has, according to wikipedia, 17 caps for Honduras.  His nickname is “El hijo del viento” (The son of the wind). Chávez played in four games during the Gold Cup, including against the United States in the Semi-Final.  If anyone happens to have a copy of the US game, or any other Honduras game for that matter, Chávez was wearing #10.

Here are some of the quotes from the Article reporting Chávez is heading to Dallas, along with some Google translations.

Me voy agradecido con Dios y con Marathón por darme la oportunidad de cumplir uno de mis sueños, jugar en el extranjero, vestiré la camisa F. C. Dallas.”

“I’m grateful to God and Marathon, for giving me the opportunity to fulfill a dream, playing abroad, wear the shirt FC Dallas.”

and…

“Esto es gracias al apoyo de mi familia, el presidente del Marathón, mis compañeros. Sin duda me hace feliz en este momento saber que voy a un equipo donde tengo la dicha de poder triunfar como futbolista.”

“This is thanks to the support of my family, the president of Marathon, my classmates. Surely it makes me happy in this moment that I know where a team that I can succeed as a footballer.”

I’ll continue to try and track down someone from FCD to see if we can get this signing verified.  I’ve also heard of talks with at least two other players, although without manes names attached, but with enough circumstances to make me think there might be something more out there for FCD.  While the transfer window closed Friday, the team can still sign a player who was out of contract before the window closed.

Here’s a goal he scored for Honduras.

And here he celebrates joining FC Dallas.

“I’ve also heard of talks with at least two other players, although without manes attached”

Funniest Buzz typo in a long time. I guess that mean we haven’t signed Ronaldinho or Sarah Jessica Parker then.

Honduras shouldn’t of even been in the semi-finals, I hate CONCACAF refs. He might have actually been the guy that drew the worst PK in the history of the world. If so he might get a stern talking to from a still very upset Canadian fan.

On another note though he does sound extremely excited at the opportunity to play for FCD which is kinda flattering and makes me think he might actually try.

If he plays as well as he dance, we may have a good signing  Nice goal and looks like a fun guy

Here is a lineup that I think could be a possibly dominant force in MLS for FCD (when the best players are healthy, of course…):

    ——–Cunny—–Ferreira——–
    ————————————
    —————Chavez————-
    ——-vdB————Harris——-
    ————–Ricchetti————-
    ————————————
    –Benitez–John–Davies–Moor–
    ————————————
    ————–|Sala|—————

    Just a thought… :D

I am pretty sure that is a photoshopped picture. The logo is perfectly straight. Judging by the way he is holding the shirt it should be off at least a little. And from what I can see on my phone here it looks like the pixels are different around the logo (particularly around where the tm is). I really could be wrong but it just looks like a fake to me.

If this is the signing for the transfer window. it better be a Toja-level siging. He doesn’t really fit a need.

Uhm, yeah, “The Man With a Plan”, you’re going to bench Dax McCarty.

    Right.

    Ok, Adam… take a chillpill.

Yes, McCarty deserves a spot in the lineup, most likely in van den Bergh’s place. But don’t be a sarcastic moron when you comment. It helps NO ONE…
