Hunts After West Ham?

August 11th, 2009 . 12:54 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

The Sun says Clark Hunt is in talks to buy West Ham.

West Ham is a club noted for it’s youth development. But as a club it isn’t perhaps as rich or deep pocketed as some other London based teams. (edit so True Hammer won’t get upset)

One can’t help but wonder what it might mean for the Hunt’s domestic teams FC Dallas and Columbus Crew.  HSG has been trying to off load one of it’s two teams for a couple years now, The Crew we hear.

I’ve heard nothing to confirm the Hunts interest in West Ham from the Dallas end of things, but that’s not surprising.

Edit: In the interest of fairness, here’s a SI article with the Hunt “non-interest” in it.

    Buzz,
I’m sure you have been busy, but the Hunts have already denied the Sun’s report.. something about not being interested in expanding on their soccer holdings or some such.

Denying a report doesn’t mean the report isn’t true. Particularly with the Hunts.

The story is still worth linking to.

True Hammer. Not Rich in MONEY. CASH. $$$$$$$$

Their legacy of youth development, as you point out, is what makes them a great club. Obviously my original sentence didn’t work well, so I fixed it for you.

I dont think the Hammers will be happy about this news.

I wonder if the Hunt’s would market the team as well as they do FCD. How about the Hunt;s spend that money on FCD. As they said in Ferris Bueler’s Day Off “You have to spend money to make money”

Soccer goals, you reckon us hammers won’t be happy with this. We’ve had an Icelandic banker who promised and couldn’t deliver and sold us to cover his debt to a holding company, 70% owned by the iclandic government who are pretty much bankrupt, who really would rather not have us. Think we would be just a little happier.

So the Hunts are looking at off loading C-bus and not us. We couldn’t be lucky enough to be sold.

great investment for west ham, hunt has had a football/soccer background all his life and he knows the game inside out. has done well with the 2 clubs he owns, but now needs to up his game. the yanks (hicks, gilette, glaziers and lerner) who have taken over liverpool, man utd and villa have all made their money from sports in the U.S… hunt has made it in the mls… football knowledge and minted… how can he not be the perfect owner? i’m forever blowing bubbles!

Cool. Then maybe a European team will come play at PHP. Haven’t seen that in a while. I would guess a friendly with West Ham would bring in more people than the ~2,000 that attended the 2 friendlies this year with South American opponents.

Anyone who knows anything about FC Dallas and the Hunts would never say it’s a good thing for West Ham. The Hammers don’t need another big headed, dim witted, “Daddy made all the money for me” businessman who will no doubt rape the Irons of any young talent they have and ponce around like Gawd Almighty. If you are a God fearing person please pray to whoever you pray to for this rumour to be just that… a rumour! Clark Hunt can’t run FC Dallas or even appoint someone with the ability to run FCD, nevermind wade into the deepest waters of the EPL and mess with one of Englands most Historic Teams. It was West Ham that furnished the players that won England’s one and only World Cup in 1966 and who have furnished the players who will win the next… I sincerely hope LOL!!! Clark Hunt… PLEASE LEAVE MY BELOVED HAMMERS ALONE!!!!!!!
