He won’t be replacing Kenny Cooper as he signed with Crystal Palace.

So now where does that leave FCD with their #1 allocation?

Holding the bag, that’s where.

Beasley is under contract and wants to stay at Rangers anyway.

Adu is going to Holland reports, and our own source, say.

Heath Pearce?  FCD just signed a left back.

So FCD has apparently managed to get themselves to the highly coveted spot atop the returning allocation list only have it come to jack squat.

Edit: following the MLS season each expansion team allocation and any “you suck” allocations for 2009 will be placed atop the list moving FCD’s current top pllacement down.

If FCD is going to use this chip on a returning player it has to be in this window.  After that it will just be a normal allocation for all intents and purposes.

That about sums up FCD’s season.

I am more than happy to hold onto the allocation for now. The season is pretty well shot and we should really save it for the off season to see who pops up.

I’m still happy they didn’t use it on Szetela.

Luckily with the inmate running the asylum we should be atop the list next year too.

Agree with Dan. We are too close to the World Cup, and there are several people in Europe who realize that they need to be on the field.

Worst case scenario is we get someone we don’t need and trade him.

I believe that as soon as the season ends, the You Suck allocations and expansion teams will have dibs. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong. :?:

Pretty sure James is right. Though FCD will likely 3rd or 4th in allocation order after the season anyway, their current allocation drops below the new allocations of the expansion and non-playoff teams. They should make a trade when Pearce or someone else becomes available. That person likely be more valuable than Szetela, so I still don’t fault them for letting him slide to DC.

When it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. I can’t really say it’s HSG’s fault on this one. We just didn’t get the opportunity to do anything with it.

Won’t we get dibs on the You Suck allocation?

Well at this point FCD would be 3rd, with one expansion team. So they will go into the 2010 at #4 on the list. (i may be missing some)
