Dello-Russo Released by FC Dallas

July 22nd, 2009 . 1:46 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

Michael Dello-Russo (Maggie Hutchinson, 3rd Degree)According to 3rd Degree sources, and as yet unconfirmed by FC Dallas, Michael Dello-Russo has been let go by the club.  As we tweeted from training, yesterday FCD cut ties with the Maryland grad.  It’s almost certain this move in preparation for activity now that the second transfer window is open, but it remains to be seen who might be coming in.

While he never broke into the first team, Dello-Russo is a smart, hard working player that can field numerous positions.  He’s quite capable of a long career as a pro soccer player, perhaps in the USL, and may yet surface in MLS with more expansion teams on the way.

Wonder if it’s one of the trialists currently in camp or if they have a surprise up their sleeves.

Best wishes to Dello-Russo. I enjoyed watching him play, as well.

i WISH HIM ALL THE BEST OF LUCK. I chatted to him once in Target and he seemed such a down to earth guy. OMG what does this mean SH and Hitch da Bitch are planning. Now I am scared.

Best of luck to Dello, but since I never met him or saw him play, this mainly gets me excited/anxious for a signing to be announced.

Well I hope SH does a better job getting pieces during the transfer window than he did during the offseason. He trades the starting right back, Seiroux, so he can start his boy Saragosa on the field. He finally figures out Saragosa is worthless and puts Moor out there and trades Saragosa. Now he releases the versatile Dello-Russo, so FCD’s depth at RB is now Moor then Purdy, who by the way were supposed to be the starting CB tandem at the start of the season. Just more evidence that SH doesn’t really know what he is doing.

    Here is the answer:

“FC Dallas made another move today — signing Colombian defender Jair Benitez. Benitez has been training with the team since Monday and will officially be added to the roster as soon as his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is received. To make room for Benitez on the 24-man roster, FCD waived Michael Dello-Russo.”

Got it. Easier to bring in a foreign player that does not work out than to focus on developing domestic talent. Roger that.

Kevin – you don’t get it. Dello was a nice player, but never going to be starting quality for FCD. He is 25 years old, not “developing talent”.
And how would YOU have ANY clue if Jair is going to “work out” or not? Plenty of foreign players have worked out quite well in MLS.
