Cooper vs Haiti
July 9th, 2009 . 2:06 pm . By: Buzz CarrickThe US has one game remaining in opening round play at the Gold Cup against Haiti on Saturday at Gillette Stadium at 6 p.m. CT. With the US all but guaranteed a spot in the next round, this game against Haiti seems by far the most likely one for FCD striker Kenny Cooper to get a start. If he doesn’t start FCD should be livid, cause Cooper will have been called away from FCD for a month with no real playing time for the US as it’s highly unlikely he would start in the knockout rounds if he can’t get on the field in the gravy opening round game. With the Haiti game being played live on Fox Soccer Channel at 6PM CT and FC Dallas playing live on Ch 52 at 8:30, there is just enough to cook your frozen pizza between games. Or if your heading to the FCD watching Party at Trinity Hall there should be just enough time to knock out a shepherds pie. 7 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Let’s hope he gets a start. If not he might as well not accept an invitation until he is playing in Europe on a regular basis.
Oh and thank Buzz for the Cooper update.
He damn well better get the start in this match, for a number of reasons – not the least of which is that I will be there (with my NE Sam’s Army friends) to see it. Hope Goodson is ok to go, as well.
Oh, and that stuff Buzz mentioned is important, too…
The stats said the US shot 16 times with 6 on goal. Cooper was on for 8 minutes and was responisble for 3 of these.
My guess is if he doesn’t make an impact Saturday then FCD will ask for him back (ala Adu).
Buzz,
Any idea if Drew Moor was even close to getting called up for the Gold Cup?
Ivan,
One of those was a shot at the top of the box when he was well covered by the defense and he had an unmarked teammate waiting for the ball on the other side of the box. Selfishness combined with lack of scoring isn’t going to score him any points with Bradley.
Tim, I don’t know. sorry.
