Seattle Strikes Again
July 2nd, 2009 . 9:28 am . By: Buzz CarrickThis time they jack with their arch rivals Portland. This Seattle team never ceases to amaze me. Just how well run is Seatlle? They “forgot” to bring their blue jerseys to their US Open Cup game with arch rival Portland and forced the Timbers into wearing their road kits at home. See, before the game Seattle said they would play in green/blue/green and that Portland would be in their all green. Apparently Seattle felt the two greens were different enough. But of course that is up to the referee. So when Seattle gets to Portland, and (I assume) the referee decides green is green and Seattle needs to wear their blue top… Seattle has “forgotten” to bring their blue tops even though they were asked to. …And Portland has to change into their road black at home.
Classic.
Yeah. Right. Seattle Strikes Again. Oh by the way, 16,000 fans for an open cup game. Here’s the Sounders produced post game recap with host, interviews, and highlights. You can see more of the jerseys. What don’t these guys get right? Please somebody help me find something Seattle has gotten wrong. 14 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

16,000?
I hate them.
I gotta say, you might be giving the Sounders a little too much credit here.
This might’ve been intentional on their part, but I get the feeling that if we had pulled that sort of move, even intentionally, it would’ve been used as more evidence that the people running FCD don’t know what the hell they’re doing.
And oh yeah, 16,000 for an Open Cup match in Portland? Nice. That’s yet more evidence that the people running FCD aren’t exactly drawn from the top levels of pro soccer management.
Let the record show that this is not the first time the Flounders forgot a set of kits when they came to Portland. This was all about gamesmanship and skirting the rules…hope they get fined for it.
It’s a shit organization for shit customers.

Seattle obviously didn’t bring their second kit on purpose.
They deserve to be fined- not praised.
And the game was great. Intrigue, fantastic goals, total commitment from both teams, cowardice from a Seattle player that was rewarded with a bottle thrown at his nuts, and fantastic support in the stands.
A wonderful night of soccer in Portland, if the result was disheartening.

PGE is downtown – just putting that out there.
The shirt thing was intentional.
I was at the warm up at PGE park Tuesday evening when Sigi and his hench men had jerseys on the ground Rave green. Timbers green shirt and another.
Even if they had forgotten Seattle is three hours drive away. This was typical sounders management policy. Let the other side wear thier black at home in hot weather.
There should be a fine.
Waaah! They should be fined! Waaah. It’s not fair.
Stop crying. It was only a jersey. Man up and realise you lost. You just make the Timbers look more like cry baby whiners.

Their team has a fvcking marching band. How’s that?
Portland – Whine Country.
Portland lost to a seattle team not playing 3 of its midfield starters and atleast one backline starter…and they complain about jerseys

Answer: Overall, they have an ownership/management that knows what they are doing.
The team has a marching band, that we can’t hear because there are 32,000+ screaming.
Buzz, you know what Seattle has done wrong? The FO has placed more worth on the word “sellout” than on selling 10,000 more seats.
Seattle could make the finals
