Copper Makes Preliminary Roster for Gold Cup

June 21st, 2009 . 2:34 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

It’s early in the process but Kenny Cooper has been named to the preliminary US roster of 30 players for the Gold Cup.  The roster will be trimmed to 23 before the Gold Cup begins.

He would certainly be an improvement over Conner Casey who doesn’t play particulary hard or have much ability at holding the ball.

There’s only one Kenny Cooper! Well done KC!

Connor has looked really, really lazy out there in the Confed Cup. However, at this point in the season, I’m not sure how much more Kenny could bring. Sure, Kenny works hard, which gives him a leg up…but he’s not exactly on a hot streak.

He does have more of a history, goal wise, with the Nats though.

cooper’s always a good choice, but i think it’s more due to casey not looking so hot…it seems half of cooper’s mls goals so far this season have been pk’s…but i’m a huge cooper fan, and hope he does well…he deserves the spot.

Copper? Bradley’s an idiot, but I don’t expect him to play a metallic substance in a tournament game.

The roster includes a number of player on the Confederations Cup team that obviously won’t be on the GC squad.
Nice to see Badson continuing to move up the world ladder of football. Not sure he will be returning to his club in Norway after this tournament. He’s the #1 rated defender in Norway and probably needs a bigger stage.

Cooper will not make the 23 man roster. BB has given him chance after chance to come into camp and prove that he will do wahtever it takes to keep getting calls.

If he does not make the roster this time it might be a long long time before he gets called in again (unless he really catches fire inthe second half of the MLS season)
