3rd Degree

Like Our Tweets?

June 2nd, 2009 . 8:56 am . By: Buzz Carrick

We could use some feedback.

Twitter is an interesting emerging tool, at least in terms of mass awareness.  3rd Degree has been on there this year but to be honest we’re still trying to figure out how to best use the service.

So far we’ve used it to send site updates, break news from training, and give game day updates.

But we can use some feedback.  If you follow us let me know what you think.

Do you like what we’ve done so far?  What else do you think we could do with it?  How about some small opinion things? What about non-FCD specific posts?

Thanks for your time.

Love the tweets, but it would be much better if you included a url to the articles so I can read them on my mobile device.

ah right. I need to use tiny URL I think. big URLs won’t fit. Thanks.

Agree that tweets announcing a new post on the site should include a URL. But I suggest using it for more than notifying followers of new posts (RSS has been doing that well for years now). Small opinion items would be great. Could be any soccer-related thing, really, especially stuff too small or unrelated to FCD to be worth a full blog post.

Buzz, you can use a service like twitterfeed to tweet each new post with the URL included automatically.

And I’m with Chris; give a little more through the tweets, small insights or random thoughts. You never know what might be interesting to someone (especially me, devourer of all things footy).

i really like the tweets. especially the game updates. if, god forbid, i don’t get to watch my beloved fcd, and can’t get to a computer, i have no way of knowing how they are doing, but with your updates it helps.

I’m just starting to figure out Twitter too, so it’s all cool. Eventually, you sort of figure out the best way to use it for what you have in mind. I do think it’s great for in-game updates, and also for stuff that you think is too short to stick on your main site.

    PBP tweet the reserve game?
    stream of consciousness tweets?

can’t be by the TV all the time and don’t even mention radio.

I had requests of PBP during the Dallascup.

    I do enjoy your tweets!
Ya might look at some of the pages that automatically take your rss feed & send it to twitter like:
    http://twitterfeed.com/
    http://rsstotwitter.com/
You’d still be free to post directly, but it’s another outlet to let folks know there’s a new, awesome 3rdDegree post up!

I like the PBP or opinion tweets. I rarely follow the links posted in Twitter.

    LOOOVE the scrimmage tweet! Thanks!!!

I couldn’t make it out because I was “stuck” being Mom, since it’s finals week for the kiddos.

I made it to the scrimmage yesterday and it was weird sitting next to Buzz while also receiving Twitter messages from him.
