ESPN Highlights of Chicago Game

June 1st, 2009 . 8:47 am . By: Buzz Carrick

ESPN has some highlights of the FCD game against Chicago. Usually I would put some MLS highlights in here, but since ESPN did stand alone one I thought why not? It’s kinda nice to see ESPN doing these, even if they are only on soccernet.

The commentator calls Chicago the best team in the league and Dallas the worst. That’s only true if you look at the standings only. I don’t think that’s true if you watch the teams play. Chicago while good, isn’t quite the best team and FCD, while bad, isn’t the worst team either.

He actually called Chivas the best team in the league (“Chicago with their first loss of the season to the worst team in the league, 3 days after beating the best team in the league”)

I have no real problem with him saying that – these highlight shows usually boil things down to their most simplistic terms, so in terms of the overall league table his statement was technically correct, if not correct in the absolute.

OK, so Dallas is the second worst team in the league… ;)

Having seen most of the teams play, I would put San Jose, New York and LA lower than FCD.

Chivas and Houston as the top two right now.
