]]> By: tony http://www.3rddegree.net/2009/05/07/philly-union/comment-page-1/#comment-18187 tony Thu, 07 May 2009 22:22:58 +0000 http://www.3rddegree.net/?p=4635#comment-18187 the "join or die" tradition goes back to the American revolution when a number of the colonies didn't want to join the rebellion against england I believe franklin (though i could be wrong) drew up a cartoon of a snake in 13 pieces (each being a colony) and wrote "join or die" on it, as he believed the war would not succeed without the help of all of the 13 colonies so really its more of an american thing than the nike thing, and for philly it makes sense as that was the HQ of the revolution and the first capital of america (though it quickly moved to washington) I like the snake idea i think its pretty cool to tie in the history of the region with the team, something Dallas has obviously not figured out how to do (star? pegasus?
