Cooper Chasing a Record

May 7th, 2009 . 3:31 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

Consecutive starts by a forward.  Seriously.

According to Elias Sports Bureau…

If Cooper starts against Houston, he will be only the 3rd forward ever to start 40 straight games in MLS.  (This streak by Cooper is since Tyrone Marshall broke Cooper’s leg leg)

The outright record is 43 starts in a row by a forward held by Taylor Twellman (05-07) and Alejandro Moreno (07-08).

Peter Hirdt from Elias mentions a US call up could end said streak by Cooper.  As any Dallas fans knows, that’s not likely.

So there’s one thing to cheer about over the next three losses games.

The record he should be chasing is the “anything better than 1-5-1″ record.
