FCD Officially Signs Alvaro Sanchez
April 3rd, 2009 . 9:01 am . By: Buzz CarrickFC Dallas has officially signed Alvaro Sanchez on loan from AD San Carlos of Costa Rica. We’ve know this was coming for some time, but the official announcement is important cause he can’t put pen to paper and execute the contract until he gets his visa. So it’s safe to say that this announcement means Sanchez has his visa and should arrive in Dallas very soon. Sanchez, while it’s hypothetically possible, almost certainly won’t be involved in the Toronto FC games next week because it would require an additional visa to go to Canada and back. There just isn’t the time frame to allow that. Not that Hyndman would insert him in the 11 that fast anyway. Sanchez can play attacking mid, both flank mid spots, or as a withdrawn striker. According to first hand reports his free kick goal he scored for FCD down in Brazil was a thing of beauty. FCD has an open roster spot, so no roster move will need to be made to add Sanchez. Here’s the PR… FC DALLAS SIGNS COSTA RICAN INTERNATIONAL ALVARO SANCHEZFRISCO, TX (Friday, April 3, 2009) – FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock today officially announced that the team has signed forward/midfielder Alvaro Sanchez on loan from AD San Carlos of Costa Rica’s Primera Division to complete the team’s 24-player roster. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sanchez will occupy a senior roster spot and be available for regular season selection upon receipt of his international transfer certificate. The left-footed midfielder has scored 10 goals and added 14 assists in 44 appearances with San Carlos, where he has played since 2007. The 24-year-old has earned three caps with the Costa Rica national team, having recently made his debut in January 2009 in the UNCAF Nations Cup, where he finished the tournament tied for second with two goals. Sanchez spent the first week of March in preseason camp with FCD in Curitiba, Brazil, tallying one goal in two games. PLAY HIM NOW!!!!!
What?
I’m sure a lot of you are glad to see FCD is getting bigger in the Midfield. After all 5′6 is way better than 5′5 as we all know. lol.
All I had to read was “FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hi—”
Out!
All I had to read were the words “FC
Dallas Gener……..” OUT!!
Is this guy signed with the assumption that he will start right away or just add depth and compete?
Galaxy sign U.S. national-teamer Gregg Berhalter
Yeah, Dallas couldn’t use him. Our defense is GREAT!
Buzz, on your next talk w SH you could tell him to take a look at Fabio Luciano from Flamengo.. He said he wont be playing anymore after may unless he gets a call to play in USA.. He is the team captain for the last 2 years… would be a good signing…
Chitown… there is a ranking for allocation. LA had dibs, therefore Dallas had no chance to get Berhalter.
Conor, Compete for a spot, but he has big talent and upside. could very well be starting inside a few weeks.
Phil. If I get a chance Ill pass the name on.
So, that means we’re first on the allocation list now – right?
yes.
hence the post top right of this site.

Messi is 5′5″ so i don’t want to hear that we need more height.
My prolbem is FCD continues to assemble a lot of parts but can they put those parts together into somehting that works.
There needs to be a feel that everyone is on the same page and playing the same style / the same system. I hope Sanchez will help bring the consistency we need to make all of the parts fit together.
We have Messi?
Saying that size doesn’t matter because Messi is 5′5″ just doesn’t hold any water with me. Messi is a precious talent surrounded by other world class players in a league predicated on skill. That description does not fit MLS.
I say we convert this guy to a defender because that is our most pressing need. SH still won’t address the lack of talent on that side of the ball although we also are very bad in attack.
