Hitch and CAP

I got in touch with one of my reliable contacts down at Furacao.com.
As the Red Stripes’ preseason comes to an end, a few questions have arisen as First Kick 2009 approaches. One question is definitely the backline, yet it isn’t about who will play there. It’s about how the positions are played. Another question will be about Colombian newcomer David Ferreira, arriving in time for this game. Can he produce for the club? With CAP manager Geninho finally in a position to field his very best in Frisco, FC Dallas will have those questions (for the most part) answered against a powerful Atletico Paranaense side.
Final pre-season match tomorrow night
For most of this spring, I’ve been talking about the FC Dallas roster being out of balance. Even before the Red Stripes hosed Jamie Watson I felt the team needed another striker, now I think they need two. With the loss of Marcelo Saragosa for a month or more, the trade of Adrian Serioux, and the poor FCD play in Brazil, FCD is in even more of a mess on defense. Despite the team being already overloaded with defenders, when I asked FCD head coach Schellas Hyndman if he needs another defender he didn’t hesitate to agree.
Atletico Paranaense head coach Geninho says, “All your base are belong to us!”
Missing the boat one more time
Did you know MLS had a Fan Code of Conduct? I didn’t either.
I wasn’t able to make practice earlier this week, but a friend hooked me, and I now hook you up, with a long Q&A FCD head coach Schellas Hyndman did with the media on Tuesday. I figured since the team had been gone so long I might as well share the entire thing with everyone.
The race is on to be the last team in Major League Soccer without a jersey sponsor.
