Former FC Dallas striker Jamie Watson has signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL-2.
It is the oldest cliché in sports that one game does not a season make. In spite of this, Opening Day is almost always dissected and analyzed by fans looking to justify their greatest hopes or deepest fears for a team that binds their heartstrings so tightly.
Change is afoot at FCD, and one of the most obvious on opening day were the new FCD Dancers. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, it signals a new change and emphasis (read willingness to spend money) on HSG’s part. Here’s hoping it helps.

FCD stumbles out of the gate
Because of the Global Economic Crisis, I am drinking Bud Light out a can instead of Guinness out of a bottle for opening day. I only mention this because I think it is now mandatory to mention the Global Economic Crisis in any piece of prose published on the internets.
The home opener is tonight
Here it is, the start of the 2009 MLS regular season. For the FCD faithful, it means the first taste of Brimstone Cup action against a hungry and determined Chicago Fire club that some favor to win the East this year. Both teams have claimed they’re ready to go, although injury and suspension might say differently for each party involved.
