Notes for FCD vs CAP

March 4th, 2009 . 1:01 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

Some news is trickling out of Brazil that will effect tonight’s FCD side.  Reminder you can watch the game on line at 4PM at the FC Dallas official site.

- Marcelo Saragosa has some pain in his knee.  He flew home to Dallas get it checked out.  Hyndman said before the team left that if Marcelo had to go home it would be because the meniscus was a problem again and surgery would be likely.  So either Dello-Russo at right back, or Drew Moor slides out and Aaron Pitchkolan plays in the middle.

- By mutual agreement, probably to not cause a riot, David Ferreira being one of CAP’s best and most popular players would not play against them down in Curitiba. So you will have to wait till the USA-Brazil Challenge Leg Two back here in Dallas to see him.

- Most likely trialist and #10 type, Costa Rican Alvaro Sanchez, will fill in for Ferreira rather than moving McCarty back in the middle.

- Ray Burse hurt his ankle in training and is out.

- Daniel Torres and George John, while not updated by FCD, are probably still out.

- Open subs, but red carded players are not replaceable.

- Other than Watson who is technically trialist, FCD still has Argentines Gaspar Paez and Jonathan Artura, and Brazilian Rafael Abrao in camp.  Expect them all to play.

If Saragosa has surgery, how long will he be out?

as i noted on the fcd blog…it really shows a lot about the talent of ferreira if both teams have agreed not to play him b/c of how the fans might react. this is sounding to be an immense addition to the squad. how did we get this lucky…or am i getting overly excited again?

I hope Pitch gets the start with Moor moving wide. I prefer Dello in midfield.

Alvaro Sanchez seems to be a real up and comer for Costa Rica. He just started getting international caps and already has 2 goals in 2 games according to Wikipedia. Any other news on him?

How long Marcelo is out would depend on what is wrong and which procedure it is.

Another let-down goal? Wow. Buzz, you’re pretty darn prescient.
