FCD 0 Hou 0
February 9th, 2009 . 1:29 pm . By: Chamo JonesKudos to the FCD FO for getting the web cast up and running. Pre-season games can be a tough watch. Finishing just wasn’t there for either side. Grounds crew, the pitch looks terrible. Scrimmage: FCD 0 , HOU 0 – FCD Blog 6 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Van Der Berg’s Corner’s looked bad….like he was half assed taking them. Good to see Dax when he played. However, he had a wide open shot on goal, but what did he decide to do? Pass it to Cunningham.(WTF Mate?!?!?!?!?)
really lots of good scoring chances for fcd, but the finishing just wasn’t there…AT ALL. some point blank shots blown by both sides. at least FCD was attacking a lot more than i could have imagined. good start.
It seemed like we worked the ball around a lot better than houston, but just not in the last 18. I thought avila did a good job of combining with the forwards. Purdy hitting a couple of balls over the houston D was really impressive, hopefully we can get our finishing down by the time the regular season starts.
In a way I was kind of happy with this game because it was a pretty big improvement over Friday. Purdy seems more and more like the steal we’re hoping he’ll be. On the down side, we got flanked on the right side about a dozen times but at least they didn’t score (thank you Sala).
I thought it was interesting to hear Bobby Rhine put so much of the blame on Dax for his postseason situation. I think a little work on his finishing could take him a long way this year with the Hoops.
I think Drew Moor needs to spend some time in the weight room and bulk up a bit. There were quite a few times that he was pretty much muscled off the ball and manhandled by Houston. Kei Kamara pretty much had his way with Moor every time they matched up.
THe d should be better as they continue playing together.
