Where’s Rocha?

February 1st, 2009 . 12:13 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

It turns out he had a little hold up on his visa.  That’s of course after he never got the message camp was moved up two weeks.  WHen he finally went on the 29th to get his visa there was a hold up.  Schellas Hyndman says Rocha will be in Dallas early this week.

Andre went to get his visa and everything seemed like it was ok, then they called him back in.  Nothing that we should be concerned about other than they called him back in and wanted some more documents.  It’s not just they wanted that, but your kinda back on the waiting list for a visa.  So we’re hoping that he’ll be here on Tuesday.  We’re hoping that he gets that meeting on Monday and gets here on Tuesday.

Buzz, can you explain why FCD doesn’t have a policy to apply for visas ASAP (like right after you get home, not right before you plan to come back).

Rocha is a very valuable player but all his off-field actions seem to suggest a lack of commitment.

“all of his off-field actions” ?? Not quite sure what you are saying there.

I think they do apply for them in advance. When you go to get your visa you have to do an interview. Sometimes that’s when you get these “additional paperwork” things. It’s happened before, mainly it’s just annoying.

The real problem is that the player has to do must of the leg work themselves. Although one can’t help but wonder if there are lawyers that specialize in this kind of thing. MLS of course not being a rich league that might be out of their price range.

They usually dont give the visa in person, but ship thu mail and that usually takes a week…. So if he is due back(interview) on monday I just dont see Rocha being back on tuesday or anytime before friday… *that is, if that whats really behind all of this*
FC Dallas dont apply for the players visa, I mean they do whenever they sign for the 1st time, but in Andre’s case he was renewing just like Guarda did and thats all up to the player.. they have to call, pick the dates, take the documents so I am a bit concern with Rocha not being here on time and by what I know, not being in shape at all
