Tracy to Europe
January 7th, 2009 . 12:05 am . By: Buzz CarrickI mentioned it in passing the other day, but I’ve gotten it confirmed from a MLS source, Wake Forest stud forward Marcus Tracy is passing on MLS and is going to give Europe a shot. With Tracy and now apparently Grella missing out the forward class is getting thinner by the minute. 10 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Look for Tracy to sign with Aalborg in Denmark.
[...] + Wake Forest star forward and projected top draft pick Marcus Tracy will pass on MLS and try his luck in Europe. [...]
These young kids going to Europe are all destined to come back here when they don’t get the playing time. While it’s obviously less lucrative, and requires more work, starting off in MLS and THEN transfering offers a much higher rate of success, IMO. I understand the desire to avoid the pitfalls of MLS, but I don’t think they are looking at the much bigger pitfalls of Europe.

MLS should be viewed as a fall-back league for the top youth in the USA.
I wouldn’t be surprised if both Tracy and Grella are drafted by New England in the 3rd/4th round.
They have so many picks (7), and don’t have the roster space to take more than 2-3 guys.
Oric should be viewed as a moron.
I dunno, skipping MLS and heading abroad appears to have worked out just fine for Charlie Davies, while it’s hard not to notice that Kenny Cooper has been left a bit frustrated since coming back to MLS.
Go east, young man. Take your opportunity when it presents itself.
I believe it was John Lennon who said “Life is what happens when you are busy making plans (to go to Europe after playing in MLS.)”
I agree with Oric and btw I got the location right for Tracy as well.
