Hyndman Says No Thanks on Gomez
January 26th, 2009 . 3:12 pm . By: Buzz CarrickSteve Hunt has a nice little bit today on various player in or out of the FCD mix. Notably some stuff on Cooper and McCarty. But more importantly for the discussion here, Hyndman says no thanks on Gomez.
Colorado’s surplus to requirements midfielder is not in the FCD sights. Cooper, Hyndman says is back in Dallas and might do some work this week, and McCarty is expected back soon. 8 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Bring Daxy back into the fold, Schellas. It’s time for everyone to start mending fences.
(Oh, and I’m still waiting for this year’s Andre Rocha to materialize from CAP…)
Pssst Buzz! You might want to fix SH’s name in the article name.
SH’s comment pretty much eliminates himself since he’s no spring chicken either.
[...] one priority and the state the team doesn’t need a playmaker the next. Schellas had said no thank-you to Christian Gomez (probably for the best), but is still on the lookout for a star… at least for [...]
Didn’t Schellas say last week that Dax was in Florida because Schellas told him to stay there? And now he’s criticizing Dax for missing stuff and being behind?
Did I miss something here?
Gomez is the 3 overs, over-the-hill, overpriced, and overrated. They should look for someone else or wait for the next window.
I’m sorry, but he won’t bring in Christian Gomez because he is too old, and wants somebody that’ll be around for a while?
Has he looked at the roster lately? He’s got Jeff “I never make it past a season with one team” Cunningham, and just added 32-year-old Van Den Bergh.
Seems a little bass-ackwards to me.
Gina, when it comes to an AM, I really wouldn’t want a guy as old as vdB or Cunny. They fit their respective positions, but to have a guy to come in and setup the attack properly (the AM position) would require someone younger than they are.
And ripping Cunny really isn’t fair to the guy considering he did produce for the club last year, not to mention he’s reunited with his old pal Ellinger. That makes his situation here (so far) a complete 180 from where he was this time last year in Toronto and that’s a Jeff Cunningham I’d want on my club.
AM, ST, and LMF are totally different positions that require totally different players. Age has no real bearing on certain positions (I dunno about ST, but vdB is one of the best left-sided mids available so he was a must), but attacking midfielder isn’t and shouldn’t be one of them…
My two cents for yas…
